Why isn’t Mike Conley playing for the Timberwolves against the Nuggets in Game 5?
The Minnesota Timberwolves were on the receiving end of some late breaking bad news just minutes before tip off of Game 5 against the Denver Nuggets in Ball Arena. They have lost two straight games to blow an 2-0 series lead, and tonight they will be without their starting point guard, Mike Conley.
Conley to miss crucial game
Conley was ruled out just less than an hour before tip off to a pivotal Game 5 from the Mile High CIty with right Achillies soreness. Conley came into the day as questionable, but the Wolves made the announcement as Minnesota was going through their pre game warm ups.
The 36 year old has been played in each of the eight playoff games for the Timberwolves, averaging 11.3 points and 7 assists during the postseason. Minnesota won’t just miss his passing and scoring, he has been described by head coach Chris Finch as the coach on the floor, and he has become an essential piece of the puzzle this season.
There is no word on how long Conley is expected to be out, but it will mean that the Timberwolves are going to have to go into Denver and look for a third straight road win over the Nuggets without their most experienced player.
