Bronny James’ future prospects have been one of the key stories of the 2024 NBA Draft, in which he wasn’t selected in round one on Wednesday. Now, rumours are swirling that his agent, Rich Paul, doesn’t want his client to be selected in round two, unless it’s by one team in particular.

Rich Paul’s reported Bronny James draft threat

ESPN analyst Bob Myers, the former general manager of the Golden State Warriors, reported during night two of the Draft on Thursday that Paul had been calling teams with second-round picks to tell them not to draft James, informing them the 19-year-old would move to play in Australia if they drafted him.

Having not been among the first 30 picks on Wednesday, James wasn’t one of the early picks on Thursday either. Dad LeBron’s Lakers, meanwhile, hold the 55th of 58 picks...

Why would Bronny go to Australia? Does he want to play with LeBron for the Lakers?

According to Myers, Paul is attempting to get James onto a specific team on Thursday, although he didn’t reveal which team it was.

Rumours have constantly linked Bronny with a link-up with father LeBron James, who is mulling over opting into the final year of his contract with the Lakers.

There have been contrasting reports about how badly each of them wants to play with the other, with James Sr previously stating one of his goals before the end of his career was to play with his son. However, Paul claimed that was no longer true just a few days ago.

Earlier in the year, the suggestion was LeBron could wait to see where James Jr is drafted to and try to work his way over to his son’s team. Now, however, a Lakers link-up looks most likely, if they are indeed to line up alongside one another.

With the Los Angeles franchise having the 55th draft pick, we won’t have to wait long to discover where Bronny ends up, whether that’s through a natural process or as a result of Paul scaring other teams off.
