Will Mike Conley play against the Nuggets in Game 6?
The Timberwolves are on the ropes and just a defeat away from being eliminated in the Western Conference Playoffs.
Despite the Timberwolves racing into a 2-0 lead against reigning NBA Champions Denver, a solid rally from the Nuggets has changed the dynamic in the series with Minnesota just one defeat away from being eliminated from the Western Conference playoff as Game 6 looms on Thursday night at Minneapolis’ Target Centre.
Serbian star Nikola Jokic has been at the heart of this Denver Nuggets revival with the 29-year-old celebrating his third MVP trophy ceremony by scoring 40 points and handing out 13 assists as the Nuggets overcame the Timberwolves 112-97 in Tuesday’s’ Game.
Both Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns were standout players for the Timberwolves in the opening games with Rudy Gobert also helping out on scoring duties but have delivered below par performances in recent games with point guard Mike Conley’s absence on Tuesday was a major blow for Chris Finch’s team.
Will Conley play in Game 6?
The 36-year is still struggling with an Achilles injury with the point guard listed as questionable for Thursday night’s Game 6 with the injury now being quoted as a right soleus strain with the soleus being an internal calf muscle attached to the heel bone as part of the Achilles tendon.
The Game 6 action at the Target Centre in Minneapolis commences at 8:30 pm (ET) and should the Timberwolves record the win they need to keep the series alive, a final and deciding Game 7 is scheduled in Denver for next Sunday, (19 May).
Conley poised for return
The latest news suggests the veteran will indeed be back on court on Thursday night with The Athletic’s Shams Charania maintaining that the Arkansas born player deemed fit to play for the Timberwolves in the ‘must win’ game against Denver.
