The Spaniard was once again a starter for UCLA and played 12 minutes, but his team crashed to a resounding 90-44 defeat.

Spanish college basketball player Aday Mara regained a starting role for UCLA and played 12 minutes in Thursday’s game against Utah Utes, but the visitors crashed 90-44 (-46) at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, which represents the second biggest defeat in the history of the Los Angeles university. According to ESPN data, UCLA’s biggest defeat since records began was against Stanford when they lost by a 48-point margin (109-61) in January 1997.

Mara’s figures

Mara, 18 years old, finished Thursday’s game against Utah with two points, one rebound and one block. The Zaragoza-born student had more time on the court compared to his previous three games: four minutes against California, three minutes against Stanford and no minutes at all against Oregon.

UCLA, who were completely overwhelmed by Utah in the second half (57-21), is going through a very difficult time after suffering four consecutive defeats, leaving them with a poor record of 6-10. The Los Angeles team started the season brightly, winning the first three games of the campaign but since then they have been 3-10 - the worst figures in the Pac-12.
