College football bowl games: Who plays today, Saturday December 28? Times and matchups
Saturday is set to be an action-packed day in NCAA college football, with several bowl games on the schedule.
On a bumper day of college football action across the United States, there are no fewer than eight bowl games in store today.
Full bowl game schedule, Saturday Dec. 28:
Fenway Bowl: UConn vs North Carolina
In the third edition of the Wasabi Fenway Bowl, the 8-4 UConn Huskies take on the 6-6 North Carolina Tar Heels, with both teams making their debut in the bowl game. The Tar Heels, who have appointed six-time Super Bowl winner Bill Belichick as their head coach from 2025, have so far failed to beat the Huskies in three previous meetings between the teams.

Pinstripe Bowl: Boston College vs Nebraska
In the 14th annual Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl, the 7-5 Boston College Eagles will seek victory in the game at the third attempt. Beaten in the Pinstripe Bowl in 2014 and 2017, the Eagles meet the 6-6 Nebraska Cornhuskers, who are making their first appearance. This will be the first ever meeting between Boston College and Nebraska.

New Mexico Bowl: Louisiana vs TCU
In the 19th Isleta New Mexico Bowl, the 10-3 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns go head to head with the 8-4 TCU Horned Frogs, in a clash between two teams that have never previously featured at the event. The New Mexico Bowl pits the colleges against each other for the first time in a men’s football matchup.

Pop-Tarts Bowl: Iowa State vs Miami (FL)
The Miami Hurricanes, who are three-time winners, will make a record seventh appearance in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. The 10-2 Hurricanes meet the 10-3 Iowa State Cyclones, who have lost on the two previous occasions that they have contested the 34-year-old game. Miami and Iowa State have never met before.

Arizona Bowl: Miami (OH) vs Colorado State
In the ninth Arizona Bowl, the 8-5 Miami Redhawks meet the 8-4 Colorado State Rams, having seen a seven-game winning streak come to an end when they lost to the Ohio Bobcats in the MAC Championship Game on December 7. While the Redhawks are making their debut in the Arizona Bowl, the Rams were beaten by the Nevada Wolf Pack in the game’s inaugural edition, in 2015. The event’s official name, the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl presented by Gin & Juice, stems from a tie-in with rapper Snoop Dogg’s drinks brand, Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop.

Military Bowl: East Carolina vs NC State
In the games’s 15th edition, the 7-5 East Carolina Pirates will seek to banish the memories of their only previous Go Bowling Military Bowl appearance, a 2010 defeat to the Maryland Terrapins. The 6-6 NC State Wolfpack, who are making their debut in the Military Bowl, have the upper hand in the teams’ head-to-head series, having won 19 of their 32 meetings with East Carolina.

Alamo Bowl: Colorado vs BYU
In the 2024 Valero Alamo Bowl, debutants the BYU Cougars (10-2) take on a team that has lost three out of three appearances in the bowl game, which began in 1993. Pipped in overtime by Wisconsin in the 2002 Alamo Bowl, the 9-3 Colorado Buffaloes were then well beaten by Oklahoma State and Texas in 2016 and 2020, respectively. This will be the 12th meeting between BYU and Colorado, with the Buffaloes leading the series 7-3-1.

Independence Bowl: Louisiana Tech vs Army
In the 48th Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, the 5-7 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will be making an unparalleled sixth appearance in the bowl game, having won the event three times so far (in 1977, 2008 and 2019). The Army Black Knights, meanwhile, have an 11-2 record in 2024; although Jeff Monken’s men lost the Army-Navy Game on December 14, they were crowned champions of the American Athletic Conference eight days earlier, beating the Tulane Green Wave 35-14 in West Point. The Black Knights and the Bulldogs have met twice before, with the Army winning both games.
