D1 NCAA Baseball Rankings: 2024 Week 9

The D1 college baseball rankings are a sea of solidity as most of the top ten retain last week’s rankings. Over the bottom half of the top 25, however, it is a different story.

The outlier is the Florida Gators, who tumbled a whopping 18 spots from number six in the country to number 24. The cause? Sweeps. The Gators were swept by Missouri and then by Florida State. The latter was particularly humiliating, with the Seminoles run-ruling the Gators 19-4 in game three to complete their first sweep of their in-state rival in a quarter century.

Other teams who have been sliding over the past few weeks are reigning champions LSU, who have now tumbled out of the top 25 for the first time in over a year, NC State, and South Carolina.

Taking their places are Oregon, Oklahoma State, and Louisiana Lafayette. The Ducks and Cowboys are old hands to the upper echelons of college baseball, both making it into the NCAA tournament last season. The Ragin Cajuns check in at number 19 after sweeping UL Monroe, entering the top 25 for the first time since 2017. They are currently the hottest team in the country, with a 16 game winning streak on the go. Their school record is 17. They have a homestand against Louisiana Tech and Marshall and will look to make school history.
