How did UNLV linebacker Ryan Keeler die?
Defensive lineman Ryan Keeler, student and football player at UNLV, has died at the young age of 20 years old.
UNLV announced in a statement that 20-year-old student and football player Ryan Keeler died on Monday in Las Vegas.
Keeler was a defensive lineman from Chicago, Illinois. He was a redshirt freshman at UNLV last year after starting his college career at Rutgers University. He played in seven games for the UNLV football team. In his first game against Air Force, he made seven tackles and a sack.

“We are devastated to have lost a member of our Rebel family,” said UNLV football head coach Barry Odom. “While I had the honor of knowing Ryan for only a couple of months, he already stood out to our coaching staff as an incredible person, student and teammate. Our condolences and prayers go out to Ryan’s family as we grieve along with them over this tremendous loss.”
Keeler was studying business and had a 3.8 grade point average. His UNLV teammates as well as his high school, Nazareth Academy, posted about the tragic news on social media.
“Words are hard to come by this evening as we grieve the sudden and tragic loss of UNLV student-athlete Ryan Keeler,” said UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield. “My sincere condolences are with Ryan’s family, friends, loved ones, and teammates during this very difficult time.”
