The host stadium of this year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament is the famous Houston stadium, NRG Stadium. Formerly known as Reliant Stadium, it is a multi-purpose stadium in Houston, Texas, with a seating capacity of 72,220. It is the first used NFL facility to have a retractable roof. The stadium is the home of the National Football League’s Houston Texans, the Houston Livestock Show, Rodeo, and the Texas Bowl. The stadium served as the host facility for Super Bowls XXXVIII and LI and WrestleMania 25.

It will host the Final Four again in 2023 after it has hosted the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament several times, including 2008, 2010 & 2015 South Regional semifinals and finals, and the Final Four in 2011 and 2016.

Final Four tickets

Not a doubt, every seat at NRG Stadium will be used, meaning crowds of about 75,000 will attend Saturday and Monday nights. In 2016, the last time the Final Four was in Houston, 75,505 fans watched the semifinal games, the third-most in Final Four history. By the way, The Final Four attendance record was set in 2014 at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium when 79,444 fans watched the UConn-Florida and Kentucky-Wisconsin semifinal games.

NCAA:

According to the NCAA, half is provided to the general public, which is the largest portion of tickets to the general public of any national sporting event. Most of those tickets were bartered via the lottery last spring. A quarter of the tickets go to the NCAA, its corporate partners and sponsors, the host committee, and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

The final quarter quantity of tickets goes to the schools in the Final Four, which this year are UConn, Miami, San Diego State, and FAU. The ticket exchange is also for fans looking to sell their tickets to someone else.

Each school gets about 3,600 tickets. Many of those are offered to donors or season ticket holders, and that number also includes tickets for families, coaches, and staff. The NCAA sets aside about 700 tickets for students of each school, and those seats can be encountered on the floor behind the baseline. Each school is also given another 600 student tickets that sit on the floor. The schools themselves decide how they will distribute those tickets.
