A promising player by all accounts, LSU’s running back now faces some very serious questions and moreover, charges, after he was detained by police.

If there is one positive in the situation surrounding the Tigers’ running back, it’s that it appears he did not attempt to evade the law. Nonetheless, what comes next will likely not be happy ending for the young player.

LSU’s Trey Holly arrested for attempted murder

According to reports, LSU running back Trey Holly was arrested Thursday on three felony charges, including attempted second-degree murder. As per the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office in Farmerville, Louisiana, Holly turned himself in to law enforcement officers and was booked at the Union Parish Detention Center. At present, the freshman is being held on a $512,000 bond. To be clear, LSU has suspended Holly indefinitely from all team activities, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the school.

With regards to what exactly happened, it is understood that Holly was one of three individuals arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on February 9th and left two people injured. The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office also indicated that it had determined that the shooting stemmed from earlier altercations at a set of apartment buildings. Further details provided suggest that at least three different people fired multiple rounds.

The sad part in all of this is that Holly’s career appeared to be just getting underway, having recently finished his freshman season with the Tigers. In total, he registered 11 carries for 110 yards and one touchdown, mangaging to maintain his redshirt eligibility by playing in three games. Of that total, 91 yards and the single touchdown were scored in a one-sided win against Army. Prior to his time with the Tigers, Holly was a three-star prospect out of Union Parish Highschool in Farmerville. Indeed, he was listed as the No. 39 running back in his class and the No. 25 in the state of Louisiana. After starting to play varsity football as an eigth grader, he went on to set Louisiana’s all-time high school rushing record with 10,523 yards. Be that as it may, the seemingly talented ball carrier now has other problems on his plate.
