The rivalry between the University of North Carolina (25-6) and Duke (24-7) is among the most significant in American college sports. The most recent episode on the court ended with the Tar Heels beating the Blue Devils by 84-79. This victory helped North Carolina become ACC champions for the first time since the 2016-17 season when the team had NBA players Tony Bradley, Justin Jackson, and Theo Pinson.

The Tar Heels won the game thanks to the excellent performances of Harrison Ingram (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Cormac Ryan (31 points, 6 three-point field goals). Ingram did a great job recovering the rebounds and attacking the rim to get free throws, while Ryan opened up the paint for his teammate with his three-point shots.

North Carolina, led by Hubert Davis, outrebounded Joe Scheyer’s team by seven (27-20), with Armando Bacot and Jaelyn Withers grabbing four offensive rebounds, providing extra possessions.

The Blue Devils attempted to stage a comeback

Kyle Filipowski had an impressive performance with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Jared McCain also added 19 points and 7 rebounds, but unfortunately, their efforts were not enough to save the game for the Blue Devils.

Despite the Blue Devils’ best efforts, the Tarheels managed to maintain their lead throughout the game. However, with only seven seconds left in the game, Jeremy Roach hit a crucial three-pointer, bringing the score to 82-79 in favor of the Tarheels.

Roach was a valuable player, contributing 13 points, including 2 three-pointers. Ryan from North Carolina also contributed to the team’s victory by extending their lead with two free throws. The game ended when McCain attempted a desperate three-pointer that missed the basket. Despite the loss, Filipowski and McCain’s impressive performance was commendable. However, the Tarheels proved a formidable opponent, ultimately winning the game with a score of 84-79.
