Update:

The Texas Longhorns have announced that quarterback Arch Manning has undergone foot surgery, reducing his availability for the team’s offseason workouts.

The procedure was described as a “preventative” measure to address a previous issue. He is one of six Longhorns players who have had offseason surgery.

Manning had a breakthrough year with the Longhorns, guiding the team to a 10-3 record but missing out on the College Football Playoffs.

It was not always easy going for Manning, who began the year as the bookmakers’ favorite to be crowned Heisman Trophy winner. Texas were the No. 1 seed heading into the 2025 season but could only finish 12th in the Associated Press Top 25.

For Manning personally, the season ended on a relative high as he contributed 20 touchdowns and just two turnovers in his final six games. Across the season, Manning put up 3,163 yards and 26 touchdowns for seven interceptions.

Speaking ahead of the team’s Citrus Bowl triumph, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian paid tribute to Manning’s progression across the year: “He’s a young man who’s gotten better as the season’s gone on, and not only physically, but mentally, maturity wise.”

“I would think he’s going to want another year of that growth to put himself in position for hopefully a long career in the NFL. And he’s got some unfinished business of what he came here to do and what he came here to accomplish.”
