Tennessee vs Clemson: preview
Tennessee were one of the surprise packages of the 2022 regular season. The Vols embarked on a seven-game winning streak back in September and ended second in the SEC East registering 10-2. They ended strong too - defeats to Georgia and South Carolina being the only blips in the final straight.
Clemson (11-2) have been in equally inspired form - only two teams, Notre Dame and South Carolina have not succumbed to Dabo Swinney’s Tigers since the season started. Nevertheless, the coach was keen to make it clear what his side will be up against at Hard Rock Stadium: “Tennessee is one of the best teams in the country and has had an amazing year, so it should be a great game. We’re thankful to be here and represent the league and represent Clemson in a place that’s always been special to our fans and to college football.”
This will be only the fourth meeting between the two programs since 1944 - Clemson came out on top in the most recent, a 27-14 win at the 2004 Peach Bowl.
