After securing a place in the Orange Bowl final, Penn State stand in the way of Notre Dame as they eye a place in the Atlanta final.
Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish are one of the most prestigious NCAA teams having won 11 national championships in their history.
The school also has a reputation for developing talented players who progress to the NFL with Joe Montana being the most celebrated.
As the NCAA season advances, Notre Dame overcame Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on 2 January and now face Penn State on Thursday in the Orange Bowlwith hopes of progressing deposited in QB Riley Leonard.
Leonard’s NFL Draft projection
Leonard’s numbers for Notre Dame this season have been impressive, but as things stand, the 22-year-old is not considered a top-tier quarterback prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Eight current NCAA quarterbacks did make the list of Draft expert Vinnie Iyer with the Notre Dame man absent.
If an NFL team does select Leonard in April, he’d likely be viewed as a developmental prospect or depth option rather than as an immediate starter.
Other draft ‘big boards’ do have Leonard as a lower ranked draft prospect and rate him as a projected sixth round pick.
