The Iowa (30-4) basketball team has performed extraordinarily well offensively, scoring 90 points or more in their last 90 games. Led by Clark, Lisa Bluder’s squad has been averaging 92.7 points per game this season while ranking second in the nation in field-goal percentage at 50.2%. Clark, who averaged 31.8 points and 10.0 assists per game during Iowa’s run to the national championship last season, has recorded a double-double in every postseason game she’s played this year, both in the conference and NCAA tournaments. In her previous game against Holy Cross, Clark had an impressive performance with 27 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, three steals, and a block. Clark’s dominance in college basketball highlights the fact that despite impressive numbers, her performance is considered subpar.

Iowa will face West Virginia (25-7), a team known for its strong defensive capabilities, and the Mountaineers will undoubtedly focus on slowing down Clark and the Hawkeyes. Coach Kellogg’s squad won against No. 9 Princeton in the first round with a score of 63-53. The Princeton Tigers struggled with shooting, scoring only 33.3% from the floor and turning the ball 17 times. Junior guard Ja’Naiya Quinerly was the game star with 29 points and seven rebounds. She has been averaging 19.9 points per game this season.

Iowa - West Virginia: prediction

West Virginia University (WVU) is expected to play aggressively from the beginning of the game, and it’s anticipated that they might cause some difficulties for Iowa. However, it’s Caitlin Clark’s last game at Carver-Hawkeye, and she will be determined not to lose. She doesn’t require additional motivation, like Kellogg’s comment, “Let’s send Caitlin Clark packing.”
