Update:

The Huskies have been on an absolute tear through the NCAA Tournament over the last two postseasons. They’ve won 11 straight tournament games, and their victories have been nothing short of dominant. UConn hasn’t won a game by fewer than 14 points since March 15, showcasing their prowess.

The Boilermakers have also navigated the tournament with confidence. With double-digit victories in all but one game, Purdue has proven its mettle. Their lone close game was a hard-fought 72-66 win over the number 2 seed, Tennessee.

But who are the key players to watch out for in the game between Purdue and UConn?

UConn:

Tristen Newton: A CBS Sports first-team All-American with five years of college basketball experience. His playmaking skills and championship experience make him a vital asset.

Cam Spencer: A lights-out 3-point shooter who can change the game with his scoring ability.

Stephon Castle: A likely lottery pick, Castle adds talent and versatility to UConn’s backcourt.

Alex Karaban: A dynamic power forward with a 38.5% 3-point shooting mark.

Donovan Clingan: The 7-foot-2 sophomore excels on defense, swatting shots and contesting even some of Purdue star Zach Edey’s attempts.

Purdue:

Braden Smith: Purdue’s second-leading scorer, although he’s had some struggles in the NCAA Tournament.

Trey Kaufman-Renn: An old-school power forward without much of a perimeter game.

Zach Edey: The best player in college basketball, dominating the paint and impacting games in unique ways.

Mason Gillis: Provides flexibility off the bench for the Boilermakers.

UConn has a strong advantage in the backcourt, but Purdue’s frontcourt, particularly with Edey, gives them a significant presence, making them a tough opponent. As tipoff approaches, the battle between these key players will determine which team lifts the trophy
