Wisconsin vs Oklahoma State: preview

Wisconsin and Oklahoma State are both yet to lose a Guaranteed Rate Bowl. In their only previous appearance in the game, the Badgers defeated the Utah Utes 38-10 in 1996, while Oklahoma State’s two prior Guaranteed Rate Bowls brought a 49-33 win over the Indiana Hoosiers in 2007, and a 30-22 triumph against the Washington Huskies in 2015.

Wisconsin head to Chase Field having posted a 6-6 record in a regular season that brought victories and defeats at regular intervals; they never won or lost more than two games in a row.

Oklahoma State, meanwhile, were 7-5 in what was a regular season of two halves: Mike Gundy’s men began with five wins in a row, but then went on to lose five of their remaining seven games, including their last two.

Cowboys out to equal Wildcats’ record haul

Should they beat the Badgers in Phoenix, the Cowboys will become the joint-most decorated team in the history of the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. A third victory in the fixture would take them level on the all-time leaderboard with the Kansas State Wildcats, who were winners in 1993, 2013 and 2017.
