Football fans must now wait a few days for the playoff action to return: the Divisional round gets underway on Saturday, January 18, with the Houston Texans taking on back-to-back Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs in the weekend’s opening matchup.
While the Chiefs are bidding to become the first team ever to win three straight NFL titles in the Super Bowl era, the Texans are one of three teams left in the playoffs that have never won a Super Bowl. The Buffalo Bills and the Detroit Lions are also yet to open their account.

The Lions are the bookmakers’ frontrunners to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy at February’s Super Bowl LIX, which is to be held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dan Campbell’s men, who received a Wild Card bye as the NFC’s No. 1 seed, have moneyline victory odds of between +275 and +290, according to betting information published by the comparison website Oddschecker. The Chiefs, who are the top seed in the AFC, are the +350 second favorites.
2024-25 NFL postseason: remaining dates
The winners of the Divisional round matchups will progress to the AFC and NFC Championship Games, which are scheduled to be played on Sunday January 26.
The two conference champions will then advance to Super Bowl LIX, which is due to take place on Sunday February 9.
