49ers 31 - 13 Seahawks summary, stats, scores and highlights | NFL Week 12

Purdy got one leg, and Deebo got another although he was happy to chuck that into the crowd of Niners fans on his way to the locker room. Something tells me Deebo and he rest of the Niners will be eating well tonight, turkey leg or no turkey leg. 

I must say I didn't see who was awarded the MVP turkey legs after the game, but George Kittle made a break towards the locker room after snagging the entire bird!

The Niners looked rattled for a few minutes after the pick six, but after punting a couple time Purdy led a six play drive that ended with a 28 yard pass to Brandon Aiyuk midway through the fourth quarter. That would seal the win for the Niners who rattle off their third win running, taking a commanding lead in the NFC West and are now 2nd and the NFC after the Lions loss earlier in the day. 

The Seahawks had a moment of hope early in the third quarter when Jordyn Brooks took this interception to the house after a double deflection landed right in his hands. It was the first and the only time the Seahawks would get into the endzone. SEA got into the red zone just once and had to settle for a third quarter field goal, but the Niners would take control from there. 

Geno Smith came into the Thanksgiving game with an injured elbow and had a short week to heal it. It's not going to feel any better after getting sacked six times for a total loss of 48 yards. This new look Niners defense has made converted them from contender to favorite. This is the most complete team in football, and they have shown that for the last three weeks. 

McCaffery had almost 100 total yards before halftime, and had his second of two TDs with this incredible run in which he redirects the defense and drags two defenders over the goal line. He ended the night with 114 yards on 19 carries and 25 yards on 5 receptions. 

The defense did their thing in Seattle on Thursday night. Since the addition of Chase Young this D line is causing havoc for opposing offenses, which allows the secondary guys to jump on rushed passes from the pocket. This time it was Tavonn Kinlaw jumping the route and making the pick to set up a Niners field goal on the next possession. 

The Niners had fantastic field position all day long thanks to their defense who let up an early field goal but then shut the Seahawks down for the rest of the first quarter. They allowed less than 60 yards in the first half which allowed the offense to run away with the game before halftime. Christian McCaffery scored his first of two TDs from two yards out at the beginning of the second quarter. 

The Niners came into the Thanksgiving looking like one of the best teams in the league and only reaffirmed that against the Seahawks on Thursday. Purdy, McCaffery and San Fran drove right down the field and scored a TD on the opening drive with this Deebo Samuel two yard TD. The Niners ran all over the Seahawks, totaling 169 yards and scoring three TDs on the ground. 

IT'S ALL OVER!!!

 The Niners lead it wire to wire, and other than a pick six scare, San Fran had control of this game all night. The Niners take a big lead in the NFC West and sink the Seahawks to their third loss in four games. 

The Niners are going to kneel out the clock and win their third straight game!

After a perfect passing day last week, Purdy finds Aiyuk for his first TD pass of the night. That should put this game to rest, but let's see if the Seahawks have any surprises in store.

McCaffery picks up the first down with a 12 yard run up the left sideline after bouncing off a few tackles.

Purdy finds Samuel off the play action on first down and he is pushed out of bounds after a gain of 7.

McCloud fumbled the punt but it was recovered by Bryant and the Niners will take over from their 36 yard line with 11:22 to go in the fourth quarter. 

SF brings the pressure and swallow up Smith for a loss of 11 yards!

4th and long and the Seahawks will punt. 

Smith finds Lockett on the slant from the right side and that goes for 7 yards.

Smith sets up a screen to Charbonnet but the Niners sniffed it out and dropped him for a loss of 4.

Smith found Lockett on a 7 yard pass but an illegal shift will bring that play and the Seahawks back.

Charbonnet on the pitch to the left side, where he gets 10 yards ad a fresh set of downs.

Smith in the flat to Charbonnet to the left side and he gets 6 yards on the first down catch and run.

The Niners showed like they were going to go for it on fourth down but a false start backs them up, so they punt and pin the Seahawks back to the SEA 13. 

Purdy over the middle for McCaffery and he is hit hard after a catch of 8 yards. That's going to bring us to the end of the third quarter and the Niners will ponder whether to go for it or not.

Purdy was flushed out of the pocket and let it go for Juszczyk but that pass fell out of bounds and that will bring up 3rd down.

Run to the right for McCaffery and he follows his blockers for a gain of 9 yards and a first down.

Meyers hits the 30 yard field goal and that makes 10 unanswered points from the Seahawks to start the second half. 

SF lead 24-13 with 3:13 to go in the 3rd quarter. 

The pocket collapses on Smith and he is sacked by Armstead and Hargrave for a loss of 5.

Finally we have a Seahawks highlight to show. It took a pick six for Seattle to get into the endzone, but they will take it. Brooks gets a stroke of fortune after the double deflection falls into his hands and he takes the INT to the house. 

SF start their first drive of the second half from the 4 and Purdy's pass over the middle for Deebo was a bit too high.

Smith is dropped in the backfield by Bosa for a 7 yard loss that will take Seattle out of field goal range.

WE ARE BACK IN PLAY FROM SEATTLE!!!

The Seahawks get the ball from the 25 and Charbonnet gets 2 yards on first down.

Run CMC got his second TD of the game on this patient run to the left and then cut back to the right for an 8 yard touchdown. He has 87 yards and two TDs on the ground and 17 yards receiving. 

Purdy has 134 yards on 15/20 passing. 

The Seahawks have a total of 56 yards and just three first downs all game. 

The Niners defense is alway liable for a big play or two. This time it was Tavon Kinlaw who makes the pick on the Geno Smith pass to the right sideline. 

McCaffery got his pay dirt with his first of two first half TDs from the 2 yard line. The Seahawks haven't had an answer for Run CMC who has run all of them. 

San Fran started the game with the ball, and took the lead on the first drive of the game. McCaffery helped push the ball up field but it was Deebo punching the ball in from the 2 yard line. 

IT'S HALFTIME HERE FROM LUMEN STADIUM!!

The Niners jumped all over the Seahawks from the get go. Purdy and McCaffery orchestrated the opening drive TD, and they didn't take their foot off the breaks for the rest of the game. 

SF lead 24-3 after 30 minutes. 

MISSED FIELD GOAL!!!

Meyers 53 yard kick drifted wide right and add that to the list of things that haven't gone right for the Seahawks tonight. 

SF lead 24-3 with two quarters to go here in Seattle. 

A couple quick completions one to Lockett for 9 yards and one to Metcalf for 14 puts the Seahawks in FG range and they take a TO with 5 seconds to go in the half.

The Niners tack on to their lead after the muffed but with a Moody field goal from 32 yards out.

Pass to the flat for Deebo and he picks up 3 yards, but will be short of the marker and the clock will stop after a SEA TO.

Dallas muffed the punt return and as he went down to scoop it the Niners came crashing in and Bell makes the recovery!

McCaffery gets the handoff and he picks up 7, well short of the first down marker. That brings us to the Two Minute Warning. 

4th and long coming up and the Niners will punt from their 27 yard line. 

Purdy rolls right and looks down the sideline for Deebo who made the catch but couldn't get his second foot inbounds.

Look how patient McCaffery is on this TD run. It's not there for him on the left side so he cuts it back and drags a couple defenders into the endzone for his second TD of the night.

Smith looked for Lockett on the out route to the right sideline but it's picked off by Kinlaw!!! Nothing is going right for the Seahawks in this first half.

McCaffery already has 78 yards of total offense and a TD which stretches his new streak to two games with a TD. 

McCaffery gets it back on a handoff to the left side and picks up 5 yards, but is just short of the first down.

Purdy felt the rush and tried to tuck and run but was taken down at the line of scrimmage. A flag flies in the end zone for illegal contact and the Niners will get a first down.

Purdy looked like he was dead in the dirt after the Seahawks got to him and wrapped him up but he flicked it to Kittle who turned a sack into a one yard gain. That brings us to the end of the first quarter!

Jennings made the catch short of the first down marker on the left sideline and he broke out of a couple tackles to get to the line to gain and extend this drive! Fantastic effort from the WR.

Reverse to Deebo and he was going to throw it but no one was open so he throws it out of bounds.

SF get the ball from the 45 and McCaffery dances down the field for a gain of 16 and another first down!

Smith finds Dallas over the middle but that goes for a short gain of 5 and the Seahawks will punt.

Thanksgiving Day Tradition

NFL on Thanksgiving has become as synonymous as fireworks on the 4th of July. Since 1934, the NFL has featured the Detroit Lions on TV while millions of Americans across the country sit down to enjoy their feast. The Cowboys joined the tradition in 1966, and since 2006, the NFL has given us a third primetime game to round out the almost 10 hours of pigskin on Turkey Day. The Lions have played 84 games on the fourth Thursday of November. The Cowboys have played 56 games. This will be the sixth time the Niners have played on Thanksgiving and the fifth time the Seahawks have played on this festive day. San Fran is 2-2-1 while the Seahawks are 2-2 playing 

Walker sidelined 

There is good news and there is bad news for the Seahawks leading rusher, Kenneth Walker. Seattle will not have to put him on IR, at least at the moment, although the oblique injury that he suffered last week against LA appears to be significant. Last year’s runner up for Offensive Rookie of the Year had 595 yards and 6 TDs this season before going down in the first quarter of last game. This is a big blow for the Seahawks, and Geno Smith who depends on a steady run game to be able to open up some looks down field for DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. It will be up to Zach Charbonnet to carry the majority of the load tonight. He averages 4.9 yards on his 53 carries today, and has 19 catches out of the backfield, but is yet to get into the end zone.

How do NFL players who play today celebrate Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving football is great for us. We love kicking back with our first, or second or third plate of turkey with the fixings, but do we ever think about those entertaining us?The Cowboys and the Lions are always playing on Thanksgiving, so I guess they are used to it. But how do those who play in the Turkey Day games celebrate the big day?

Mr. Irreplaceable 

Brock Purdy hit a minor speed bump this season, which is only normal when we remind ourselves that he is in just his second year our of Iowa State. It’s easy to forget that when you see him play like he did last year and for most of this year. He is coming off of what might have been his best performance in the NFL, posting a perfect 158.3 passer rating going 21/25 against the stingy Bucs D. He has the highest passer rating in the league at 115.1, nine points better than Tua Tagovailoa in second place, ad is the most accurate passer, completing 70.2% of his passes. His 2,662 yards are 6th in the league and he has thrown 18 TDs which puts him in a tie for 4th, just four back of league leader Tua Tagovailoa. We know the MVP is usually a QB award, and right now I don’t think there is a single QB playing better than Purdy. 

Putting in the overtime

Being away from family and friends on Thanksgiving is never an easy thing. The players and coaches sometimes have to sacrifice their Turkey Day, but so do the referees and the cheerleaders who have to be at the stadium the majority of the day. Most people who have to work the holidays get paid extra, but does that apply to the refs and cheerleaders who are down on the field instead of celebrating the holiday?

Geno's ready to rumble

The Niners are a tough enough team to match up to when you have a healthy quarterback. When you have a banged up QB? Forget about it. Geno Smith injured his elbow after taking a big shot from Aaron Donald at the end of the third quarter last week, which knocked him out until the final drive of the Seahawks afternoon. He made a heroic attempt at a comeback going 3/4 for 36 yards and setting up what would have been a game winning field goal had Meyers made it from 55 yards. Geno is going to give it a go, but will have to protect that injured elbow against a new and improved Niners defensive line that features Chris Young and Nick Bosa. 

Seahawks last game

The Seattle Seahawks were bruised and battered in their divisional match up with the LA Rams last week. Kenneth Walker was sidelined with an oblique injury and Geno Smith ended up missing most of the fourth quarter after taking a shot from Aaron Donald. Seattle led 16-7 when Smith went down, but LA scored a fourth quarter TD and a late field goal to take the lead with 1:30 to go in game. An injured Smith would reenter the game and led the Rams into field goal range, but Jason Meyers missed a 55 yarder as the time expired to hand the Seahawks their second loss in the last three.

The Niners continued to look like one of the strongest teams in the league at Levi Stadium last week in their win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brock Purdy had a perfect passer rating and the Niners defense came up with two big red zone stops late in the fourth quarter to seal their second straight win after a three game skip. Purdy went for 333 yards and 3 TDs to three different receivers, one of those was a 76 yard bomb to Brandon Aiyuk in the beginning of the third quarter to break the game open. Purdy’s third TD of the game went to George Kittle which let the Niners cruise to a win against one of the league’s best defensive teams.

Geno Smith and Seattle have been keeping neck and neck with the 49ers, but the Niners look to be back to their best after a midseason slide, while the Seahawks have lost two of their last three.
