49ers VS Eagles NFL Championship injury report: Will Garoppolo and McCaffrey be able to play?
After getting past the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round, the 49ers picked up a few injuries, including a potentially costly one.
In the day-after injury report, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan noted that three key players picked up injuries en route to the divisional win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Defensive end Charles Omenihu (oblique), running back Christian McCaffrey (calf) and running back Elijah Mitchell (groin) all suffered injuries during the game, and were listed as day-to-day.

Now that the week’s practice has been conducted, it looks as if the question marks are still unanswered. Coach Shanahan’s problems only got stickier as Charles Omenihu was arrested later Monday by the San Jose police on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence.
According to the police, officers were called to Omenihu’s home where a woman who identified herself as Omenihu’s girlfriend said that she felt pain in her arm after he “pushed her to the ground during an argument.” Omenihu has been released on bail pending possible charges.
The 49ers released a statement saying, “We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering further information.”
A key element to the 49ers defense, Omenihu draws concern for the team, as does the key element to their offense, Christian McCaffrey.
While there was some glimmer of hope that Jimmy Garoppolo could return, that turned out to be far too optimistic. In his stead, Brock Purdy will continue to hold the reins and try to become the first rookie quarterback ever to win a conference championship game.
Christian McCaffrey fully practiced on Friday and was not listed in the final report, but after a questionable week, it is anybody’s guess as to how close to 100% he is.
Caffrey’s backfield partner Elijah Mitchell is officially questionable after not practicing this week. It is unlikely that he will play, but even if he does, he will be a shadow of his self.
Cornerback Ambry Thomas is also listed as questionable after limited practice all week. Deebo Samuel and Charles Omenihu also were limited in practice, but are notably absent from the list.
Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia had a momentary worry on Sunday, when wide receiver AJ Brown was clearly limping and hurting in the Eagles win over the Giants.
Corner back Avonte Maddox managed to practice, after a toe injury kept him out since Week 16.
No Eagles were listed with a game status, making everyone on the 53-man roster healthy enough to play. Maddox’s return on defense means the Eagles will have all 22 starters in the lineup, a real luxury at this point in this season.
Lane Johnson practiced fully on Friday after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday due to a groin injury.
T.J. Edwards was limited on Friday due to an ankle issue, but he was listed without a game status, indicating that the issue isn’t thought to be too serious.
