Update:

Wake me up. September has ended and things are getting interesting in the NFC West. After four weeks of the season three teams are 3-1 in the division making it the the best in football and on Thursday two of the favorites to win the division square off in a battle between eternal rivals.

San Fran’s start to season

At 3-1 the San Francisco 49ers haven’t looked too convincing in any of their games, but you have to take into consideration the long list of injuries they have been dealing with since the start of the season. Their problems on offense have been well documented, and it seems as though Brock Purdy’s status is back up in air after his toe injury flared up again in Jacksonville last week.

Despite the injuries the Niners have been rattling off wins although their schedule hasn’t been the toughest. They beat the Seahawks in dramatic fashion on Week 1, but then took on the Saints and the Cardinals who aren’t exactly the most feared teams in the league. Last week they turned the ball over four times as the Jags downed them at Levi Stadium.

With as many injuries as the Niners are dealing with, it’s no wonder the offense has yet to click, but they have to figure something out soon. Christian McCaffrey hasn’t been killing it in the run game, but he is the second leading receiver on the team. He has to go back to playing his role, but to do that they need some consistency in the passing game, and they need their pass catchers to get healthy.

LA’s start to season

The Rams bounced back from their first loss of the season with a tight win over an up and coming team out of Indianapolis. They went back and forth with the Colts all game long, but it was an 88 yard bomb from Matthew Stafford to Tutu Atwell that decided the game with under 100 seconds left from Sofi Stadium.

Had the Rams not let a massive 2nd half lead slip against the Philadelphia Eagles, they would be one of the remaining undefeated teams and we would be talking about them perhaps being the favorite in the NFC after the first month of the season. Their one loss doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a great team, and on Thursday night they have a chance to make a statement as the top team in the division.

Puka Nacua is far and wide the top receiver in the league after the first four weeks of the season, and it looks as though Matt Stafford has caught his stride after missing the entire preseason with a back injury.

Odds, and prediction

The Rams host the Niners in a division battle from Sofi Stadium on Thursday night, and according to the odds makers the Rams are a 6.5 point favorite against the banged up Niners.

Spead: LA Rams (-6.5)

Money line: LA Rams (-301), SF 49ers (+241)

Over/Under: 46.5 points

Through the first month of the season the Rams have looked like one of the top teams in the leauge. They are 3-1 just like the Niners, but they don’t have as many doubts surrounding them. They are healthier, they are have played better teams, and so far they just look flat out better than the Niners.

Rams win 27-19
