Update:

With their win over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game, the New England Patriots are headed back to the Super Bowl and with that, they’re also stepping onto the brink of NFL history.

When the Patriots take the field at Levi’s Stadium in Super Bowl LX on February 8, they’ll already be setting one record simply by showing up. New England will be making their 12th Super Bowl appearance, extending their own NFL mark for the most appearances by any franchise.

But the bigger milestone is still ahead. With a win, the Patriots would capture their seventh Super Bowl title, breaking a tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers and becoming the winningest franchise in Super Bowl history.

One win From history

New England currently owns a 6–5 record in Super Bowls, with championship wins spread across multiple eras of dominance. From the franchise’s first title in the 2001 season to its most recent victory in 2018, the Patriots have repeatedly defined what sustained success looks like in the modern NFL.

Their Super Bowl history includes iconic moments - last-second finishes, dramatic comebacks and dynasty-defining wins - and just as many heartbreaks that have shaped the franchise’s identity. Now, nearly a decade after their last Lombardi Trophy, the Patriots are back with a chance to stand alone at the top.

A Super Bowl LX victory would also place New England alongside the Boston Celtics as the most decorated championship franchise in its league, a rare feat even among elite sports cities.

And history could be made on the sideline as well. Head coach Mike Vrabel has a chance to become the first person to win a Super Bowl as both a player and a head coach with the same franchise. Vrabel was part of the Patriots’ championship team during the 2004 season, and now he’s leading the next generation with another historic opportunity in reach.

Now, one game separates the. Pats from rewriting the record book yet again. Super Bowl LX is a chance to become the most successful Super Bowl franchise the league has ever seen.
