Aaron Rodgers injury update: when will the Jets quarterback return?
Rodgers, who has been out of action since tearing his Achilles tendon in Week 1, has given a positive update on his expected comeback date.
Aaron Rodgers is downplaying a return anytime soon, as the New York Jets quarterback continues to make quick progress in his recovery from a serious Achilles injury.
During ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ Rodgers said he was making progress, but said it was still unclear. “Then, are we in it? Are we playing good enough to make a run? Can I step in and protect myself and play the level that I feel like I’m capable of playing? Can I protect myself? Can I move around the way I want to move around?,” he said.
“There’s a natural progression here to the rehab, and that’s going to involve actually getting back onto the field to start to do some things that are more football related,” he remarked
Rodgers injured on NFL debut for Jets
The four-time NFL MVP ruptured his Achilles tendon in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign, in his first regular-season game since signing for the Jets in the summer.
Rodgers was initially expected to miss the rest of the season, but has since set about staging an unexpectedly speedy recovery.
The 39-year-old, who joined the Jets after 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, is now walking without crutches or visible discomfort, just eight weeks after suffering his injury early on in New York’s victory over the Buffalo Bills.
What game could Rodgers return in?
The Jets, who have lost four games in a row and are ahead of only the New England Patriots, have a 1 percent chance of making it to the playoffs according to ESPN Analytics
That said, if he returns (why would he?) it would have to be during the regular season. The Jets remaining games.
When are the 2023 NFL playoffs?
This season’s NFL playoffs are due to get going on Jan. 13, 2023 and will conclude with Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11, with Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium the venue.
As things stand, the Jets won’t be involved in the postseason and Aaron Rodgers’ return looks highly unlikely.
