The New York Jets may be out of playoff contention but there was still something to celebrate in their final outing of the 2024 season. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers recorded his 500th touchdown passes against the Miami Dolphins.

The 41-year-old found Tyler Conklin in the final moments of the second quarter, bringing up the 5-0-0 for Rodgers. His teammates were clearly aware of the QB’s milestone and celebrated with Rodgers in what could prove to be the final game of his illustrious career.

Back in October Rodgers was reunited with wide receiver Davante Adams, who played alongside him with the Green Bay Packers. Adams was on the receiving end of a few other landmark passes and he’s hoping to connect once again on Sunday.

“We’ve had some special connections in the past, so it’d be great,” Adams said, when asked about the prospect of catching the 500th TD pass. “And, obviously, it would be a big, big thing for him. Not that he needs more accolades and more milestones, but you might as well keep racking them up while you can.”

Adams' first-ever NFL touchdown reception came with the Packers in 2014 and just happened to be the 200th thrown by Rodgers. A decade on, both men have improved their numbers significantly.

Whether or not he remains with the Jets, Rodgers, a four-time NFL Most Valuable Player, is nearing the end of his stellar career. He has led the league for touchdown-to-interception ratio in six seasons and has now joined a very elite club.

The only other players to have thrown 500 touchdown passes are Tom Brady (649), Drew Brees (571), Peyton Manning (539) and Brett Favre (508). Now 41, Rodgers' current deal with the Jets will expire at the end of the season and he’s yet to confirm his intentions for the 2025 season.

Last week Rodgers said that he would consider remaining at the Jets alongside a younger starting QB. Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show he said: “I haven’t decided whether or not I want to play moving forward, and they haven’t told me what their plans are.”
