Aaron Rodgers one step closer to deal with Steelers
The Aaron Rodgers saga continues as the Pittsburgh Steelers keep pushing for a deal with the veteran quarterback.

The wait continues for veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers to make a decision on his future. After letting it be known that the Minnesota Vikings were his top choice for his next team, they decided to stop pursuing him and keep J.J. McCarthy on as their QB1.
Since then, there have been a few developments on the status of Rodgers' free agency.
Rodgers meets with Steelers
The top two contenders to sign Rodgers are the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers. Of those two, it seems the Steelers are the more likely, as it was reported that the Giants were growing tired of the chase for Rodgers while Mike Tomlin is pushing hard to snatch him up.
On Friday, the Giants signed quarterback Jameis Winston to a two-year contract, though it’s been reported that his signing won’t have an effect on whether or not they sign Rodgers and they are still haven’t closed the door on the idea.

Still, Rodgers is likely to prefer the Steelers of those two options if he wants any hope of making it to the Super Bowl before retirement. Of course, the Vikings would be the best of the options for that, but for now, they’re not interested.
A significant step in the direction of a Rodgers-Steelers deal occurred on Friday when he stopped by their headquarters for a visit to “get to know each other”, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. Still, apparently a deal is not imminent, but it looks like they could be the new frontrunners.
The #Steelers and Aaron Rodgers have had contract parameters in place for weeks, sources say, and money wasn’t a discussion point during today’s visit. It was a chance for both sides to get to know each other.
