The future of Aaron Rodgers with the Pittsburgh Steelers remains up in the air. The four-time NFL MVP appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and revealed that he is in no rush to decide whether he will return for a second season with the team.

Rodgers mulls over first season with Steelers and NFL future

Last season, Rodgers helped lead Pittsburgh to a 10–7 record and an AFC North title, the franchise’s first since 2020. However, the Steelers were eliminated early in the playoffs.

“I’ve talked to (head coach) Mike (McCarthy), I’ve talked to (general manager) Omar (Khan). They haven’t put any kind of deadline on it,” Rodgers said on the podcast. “There’s no contract offer or anything, so there’s nothing really to discuss. I’m a free agent. I’m enjoying my time with my wife and this part of the offseason. I think conversations will happen down the road.”

If Rodgers does return, he would reunite with head coach Mike McCarthy, who was hired in January following the resignation of Mike Tomlin. McCarthy and Rodgers previously spent 13 seasons together with the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2018.

“I loved my time with Mike over the years,” the quarterback added.

For now, the only quarterbacks currently confirmed on Pittsburgh’s roster for next season are Will Howard and Mason Rudolph, meaning the team will need clarity on Rodgers’ decision as the offseason progresses.
