All signs point to this QB starting for the 49ers vs Rams
The San Francisco 49ers face the Los Angeles Rams Thursday night and QB Brock Purdy is still a question mark - the latest report reveals some telling signs.

The San Francisco 49ers have been dealing with injuries all season. This week, the concern is for quarterback Brock Purdy, who reaggravated his turf toe on Sunday during their Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite Purdy missing two games already, the Niners are 3-1, with two of those victories coming with Mac Jones as the starter.
Now, his uncertain status comes at a bad time, as the 49ers get ready to face the Los Angeles Rams on a short week.
49ers’ latest injury report reveals likely QB decision for Rams game
On Wednesday, Purdy did not participate in practice, but Jones practiced as a full participant. Jones was dealing with a knee issue, but now appears to be fully recovered from it.
It’s likely that the Niners started Purdy too soon against the Jaguars when he wasn’t quite ready to be back yet, as he reaggravated the same injury on Sunday. Purdy said that if he had to play on Tuesday, he couldn’t but felt positive about having a few more days to recover. A few days may not be enough though.
Brock Purdy was asked how he feels physically compared to how he felt after the Week 1 game:

“I feel a lot better compared to the week 1 game for sure. The toe is just a little sore from the game, but nowhere near as bad as Seattle.”

“Sort of expected it,” said Purdy. “But with the quick turnaround, Thursday night game, and everything, it’s tougher. You don’t have as many days to get right and heal up and feel better, so it’s just where we’re at.”
Indeed with the quick turnaround of Thursday Night Football, the 49ers are expected to rest Purdy to avoid further aggravating his injury (again), making Jones the likely starter in a pivotal divisional matchup. In his two starts this season, Jones has completed 67.6% of his passes for 563 yards and four touchdowns to just one interception.
