Since he was drafted in 2020, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert quickly rose to NFL stardom with his talent and impressive stats. He is now the face of the team and looks to be there for a while after his recent multi-year contract extension.

Justin Herbert’s contract details with the Chargers

In July 2023, Herbert signed a five-year, $262,500,000 contract with the Chargers that will run through the 2029 season. With an average annual salary of $52,500,000, Herbert became the highest-paid player in NFL history at that time, surpassing Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Herbert’s contract also included a $16,128,376 signing bonus and $133,738,376 guaranteed. The contract was a testament to Herbert’s exceptional talent and immense potential in the league.

Although he is no longer the highest-paid player or even quarterback in the league, Herbert still ranks in the top 10, with six others having surpassed him since being given the deal.

At 26 years old, Herbert has already made a name for himself in NFL history. In his rookie season, he won Offensive Rookie of the Year and was selected to play in the Pro Bowl the following year. In his fifth season with the Chargers, Herbert has thrown for 18,038 yards and 120 touchdowns.

He achieved the remarkable feat of throwing over 4,000 yards and more than 25 touchdown passes in his first three seasons in the league, making him the first quarterback to do so. His exceptional performances on the field have earned him widespread praise and elevated him to an NFL star.
