Update:

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was caught on cameras getting into a heated exchange with head coach Andy Reid on the sidelines. No, this isn’t an old article about the Super Bowl LVIII moment between the two. It happened again on Sunday during the Chiefs’ Week 3 win over the New York Giants.

Reid downplays tense exchange with Kelce

The Chiefs’ win over the Giants’ marked their first victory of the season and emotions were high. After the tense moment between Reid and Kelce, Reid downplayed it, calling Kelce a “passionate guy” whose fire he appreciates, even if he sometimes has to play “policeman.”

“Don’t make too much of it. He’s a passionate guy and I love that part,” Reid said. “I’ve been through a lot of things with him so that’s all part of it. I love that he loves to play the game. That’s what I love. It’s an emotional game, so I’ll take it.”

Reid emphasized that there are no issues between them, echoing a similar stance after their Super Bowl LVIII sideline clash.

“I love Travis’s passion, so I’m okay with that. We didn’t have enough of it in the second quarter, we weren’t where we needed to be,” said Reid. “He knows when to back off the pedal and he knows when to push it too. That’s part of what I love about him. The guy’s all-in. Just sometimes I have to be the policeman."

“He was all-in. He was all-in,” Reid went on. “Listen, he’s an emotional guy. He’s Irish.”

While Reid welcomes Kelce’s intensity, the 35-year-old tight end is showing signs of decline, with just 10 catches for 134 yards through three games, putting him on pace for career lows. Still, Reid insists he isn’t worried about Kelce’s demeanor or commitment.
