The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the undefeated teams after the first two weeks of the 2024 NFL regular season. One of the main factors in the team’s success is the performance of Baker Mayfield. The quarterback racked up 474 yards and five touchdowns in the opening wins over the Washington Commanders and Detroit Lions.

However, there may be more to the team’s success. Mayfield appeared on the podcast Casa de Klub, hosted by former major league pitcher Corey Kluber, and revealed that Buccaneers players felt under more pressure when Tom Brady was the team’s quarterback.

Things were different with Tom here,” Mayfield said. “Obviously, game-wise, Tom is different. He had everybody focused, it was a tense environment, so I think everybody was stressed out.”

Brady’s three years in Tampa

Brady, widely regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time, played the final three seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay franchise and found success in his first campaign with the Florida team by winning Super Bowl LV at the expense of the Kansas City Chiefs. From 2020 to 2022, he accumulated 14,643 yards with 108 touchdowns and 33 interceptions.

What’s next for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started the new campaign with back-to-back wins over the Washington Commanders (37-20) and Detroit Lions. (20-16).

Up next for Todd Bowles’ team are the Denver Broncos. The game is scheduled to take place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Sunday 22 September 2024, kicking off at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on Fox.

The Bucs are second in the NFC South with two wins from two while the Broncos occupy last place in the AFC West, having lost their opening games to Seattle and Pittsburgh.

Historically, the two franchises have met 10 times and the record is 7-3 in favor of the AFC West team. The last time they met, in 2020, the Bucs won 26-10.
