WE ARE UNDERWAY HERE FROM MINNESOTA!!!

Caleb Williams hasn't been in the national spotlight too often this season. This is going to be his time to shine when the whole country is watching. He is used to being in the spotlight. He has been the source of media attention and the bright lights since he was in high school. This is where he feels like he is supposed to be. Now it's time to come out and show what he is made of.

VIkings going with a white out

It might be cold outside but it's red hot in US Bank Stadium. Justin Jefferson and the Vikings are coming into tonight with their winter whiteout jerseys. If there's one thing that players get jacked about it's seeing these new jerseys under the spotlight of a primetime game.

NFC Standings

Taking a look at the NFC Standings we see the Lions and the Vikings at the top of the NFC North. Both Minnesota, Detroit and Philadelphia are looked in a three horse race for the top spot in the conference and home field throughout the playoffs. Minnesota are in a position in which they control their own destiny, but they have to keep winning. The Bears are out of the playoffs, but they have grown accustomed to trying to play the spoiler role late in the season. If they win tonight, the Vikings will no longer control their own destiny. It’s going to be a tight race until the end and it all might come down to the Vikings Week 18 match up against the Lions.

Star watch: Bears

The case of Caleb Williams is a curious one. He had some really rough games to start the season, throwing fo 93 yards one game and two interceptions the next. He had his first 300 yard game in a week three loss to the Colts, but then he and the Bears seemed to have figured things out. He was having good, efficient games in the three weeks leading up to the BYE, but then the wheels fell off. He went four straight games without throwing a TD pass, but at the same time he wasn’t throwing interceptions. In the last few games Williams seems to have turned a new leaf with a new offensive coordinator, throwing for 7 TDs and 0 INTs but that hasn’t translated to wins. It’s a cruel world in Chicago and they demand excellence in the moment. No matter if you are rookie or not. There are good things to come in the Windy City, despite the rough rookie season of the future of their franchise. A win tonight could temporarily ease the hearts and minds of Bears fans all around.

Star watch: Vikings

While Sam Darnold is in the midst of a renaissance, it can be largely contributed to Justin Jefferson who can either take a game over by his pass catching or open the field up for his other receivers by drawing double and triple teams. He already has reached his fifth straight 1,000 yard season and has seven touchdowns and on his way to another All-Pro season. When Darnold has a big game, Jefferson is either directly or indirectly related and that’s what makes this team so dangerous. They can go to their all star receiver or Jordan Addison or TJ Hockenson when they need someone to make a big play. Quarterbacks have come and go over the last few years, but the one constant on this Vikings team is Jefferson is almost always going to be open and always going to catch the ball if it’s thrown to him.

Season recap: Bears

The Bears got the one pick in the draft and had a decent team surrounding Caleb Williams coming into the to the season. For the first time in a long time there was excitement surrounding the possibility of the Bears having an above average season with the potentially of a rookie QB that could turn into a franchise player. The won four of their first six games, and their only losses came in one possession games. They went into their BYE week at 4-2, and things looked like they were only going to get better from there, but the BYE seemed to take all of the momentum they were building. A Hail Mary from Daniels was just the tip of the ice burg. That would lead to a seven game spiral in which they have yet to snap out of. Tonight they hav a chance to turn things around, but it’s not going to get much easier for the rest of the way. They have the Vikings, Lions, Seahawks and Packers to close the season.

Season recap: Vikings

We had no clue what to expect from the Vikings coming into the season. They lost their starting QB in the off season, drafted a rookie who looked like he was going to get the Week 1 start until suffering a season ending injury and a forgotten soul was put in under center. Sam Darnold was in the MVP conversation over the first month and a half as the Vikings started the season 5-0. Their first loss came at the hands of the Lions in Week 6, and they lost the next week against the Rams to drop to 5-2. That looked like that was the beginning of the end in Minnesota, but the Vikings have rattled off seven straight wins since then, although six of those came in one possessions games. Last week they finally got a big win and now they have a chance to draw level with the Lions and Eagles in the race for the top spot in the NFC.

Last game: Vikings

It was supposed to be a redemption game for Kirk Cousins who went to Minnesota to play the team that didn’t want to pay him following his achilles injury that forced him to miss the second half of last season. The only one who redeemed himself was Sam Darnold who threw for 347 yards and 5 TDs as the Vikings blew the Falcons out 42-21. It was tied at 21-21 heading into the final fifteen minutes but two TDs in a matter of minutes gave the Vikes a 14 point lead after a Falcons’ fumble on a kick return gave Minnesota the ball right back. Cousins was picked off for a second time on the day, and Aaron Jones would call game with a 15 yard TD run to keep the Vikings in the race for the one seed.

We are live from US Bank Stadium

Hello everyone and welcome to Minnesota where the Vikings strut into tonight knowing that they control their own destiny in the race for the top seed in the NFC following the Lions loss to the Bills last night. They know that if they win out, home field throughout the playoffs is theirs, but that starts with tonight’s game against the Bears. Caleb Williams and the Bears season has collapsed following the Hail Mary that downed them in their game against the Commanders two months ago. Since then they have lost every game they have played, fired an offensive coordinator, a head coach and it looks like their rookie QB is regressing. Their playoff chances have vanished but they need a little bit of momentum heading into the offseason or it could long spiring and summer in the Windy City.
