The Kansas City Chiefs host the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2022 AFC Champions Game on Sunday, with a place at Super Bowl LVII at stake.

Sunday’s duel between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs will determine the second participant in Super Bowl LVII. The 2022 AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium will begin at 6:30pm ET and will be broadcast on CBS.

Earlier in the day, the first Super Bowl berth will be decided when the Philadelphia Eagles host the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game at Lincoln Financial Field (3pm ET).

Bengals and Chiefs meet in playoffs for second time

Between the regular season and the playoffs, the Chiefs and Bengals have met 32 times. Cincinnati lead the series 18-14 and have won the last three. The teams’ only meeting in the postseason was last year’s AFC Championship Game, which the Bengals won 27-24.

Repeat of 2021 AFC Championship Game

For the third time in 35 years, the AFC Championship Game from the previous year will be repeated. The other two were between the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens in 2011 and 2012, and between the Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns in 1986 and 1987.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will rely on tight end Travis Kelce and running back Isiah Pacheco as his main offensive weapons. However, Vonn Bell, Sam Hubbard and DJ Reader won’t make things easy for the MVP candidate.

Meanwhile, Bengals QB Joe Burrow will be counting on Ja’Marr Chase, his favourite target, and Joe Mixon to run at a Kansas City defence led by Chris Jones and Nick Bolton.
