Bills 34 - 37 Eagles summary, stats, scores and highlights | NFL Week 12

The Bills got the ball to start the OT session, and were held to a field goal which gave the Eagles a chance to win it. Nick Sirianni says his team doesn't panic in these types of situations. They know how to win and they prove that week after week. This was the fourth straight game the Eagles had to come back from a halftime deficit to win the game, and Hurts sealed the comeback with a 12 yard walkoff TD run. 

Hurts went 18/31 for 200 yards and 3 TDs with 1 INT and ran for 65 yards with two rushing TDs. 

The Eagles stay on top of the NFC with the win. They improve to 10-1, while the Bills drop out of a Wild Card dropping to 6-6 on the year. Buffalo has a BYE next week, but it's not going to get much easier to end the season. They have the Chiefs, Cowboys, Chargers, Patriots and the Dolphins in the final stretch of the season. 

Hurts responded after the Eagles lost the lead. He drove them down field into FG range, but Jason Kelce had a couple of false starts which knocked Philly back to what we thought to be out of Jake Elliott's range but he banged home a 59 yarder to send the game to overtime. 

Allen responded with a go ahead TD drive led by the Bills running game. James Cook, Latavius Murray and Josh Allen moved the ball down field on a 10 play drive that ate up 5:14 off the clock. Allen would find Gabe Davis in the endzone to give the Bills the lead with just under 2:00 to go. 

Allen went 29/51 for 339 yards, two TDs and one INT. He also led the Bills in rushing with 80 of the Bills' 173 yards on the ground. 

On third and forever, Jalen Hurts rolled left looked down field to Olamide Zaccheaus who made almost an identical catch as the one that Alabama (Jalen Hurts' alma mater) won the Iron Bowl with. There was a span where Hurts threw 3 TDs in four throws, this one gave the Eagles the lead for the first time since early in the first half. 

Two plays later it was the Eagles' defense turn to make a big play. Allen played a fantastic game, but this was his one mistake that it swung the momentum in favor of Philly as James Bradberry jumped the route and made the interception. 

This because a heavyweight battle where one team would land a big blow, and the other team would counter and land a blow of their own. Hurts got the offense going, scoring TDs on three straight possessions. The Eagles never panicked when they were down at half, or when they trailed by 10 with 1:40 left in the third quarter. Hurts is the calm at the eye of the Philly storm and he hit D'Vonte Smith on this 15 yard TD pass to cut the lead to three yet again. 

The Bills went 13/22 on third down, most of those being 3rd and 7 or longer. After the Eagles got the momentum with their third quarter TD, Allen silenced Lincoln Financial Field with this 16 yard TD run. Allen had 81 yards on the ground with two rushing TDs. 

With the run game getting big play after big play, the play action game opened up and Hurts baited the defense to get AJ Brown open in the back of the endzone. Brown ended the night with 37 yards and a TD. 

The Eagles started relying on the run a little more in the second half, which meant it was D'Andre Swift's time to shine. He took this first down run 32 yards and set up a much needed TD drive for the Eagles. Swift ended the night with 80 of the 185 yards the Eagles had on the ground. 

Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs have an up and down relationship, and we even saw Diggs on the sideline for a few third downs. This was one of many third downs that the Bills converted, and this one went to Diggs right at the goal line for the TD. Buffalo turned Philly's two TOs into 14 points and they went into the halftime break up 17-7. 

Another mistake from Hurts cost the Eagles more points. This fumble came after a blocked field goal looked like it was going to give Philly some momentum going into the halftime break, but this fumbled handoff exchange led to more points for the Bills in the final minute of the second quarter. 

Josh Allen looked back to his best in the showdown against Jalen Hurts. He was moving the ball with his arm and his legs. This 9 yard run gave the Bills a lead they would keep until early in the fourth quarter. 

Hurts wasn't perfect against a Bills defense that made things difficult for the Eagles in the first half. This pass was tipped up and interceptions by Terrel Bernard which set up the Bills first TD of the night. 

We've got a lot to go over, and what better place to start then from the beginning. The Eagles came in to the game in Philly as the best team in the league, fresh off a Monday night win over KC. It was a wet, rainy night at Lincoln Financial which meant establishing the run game was a must and both teams did that. 
Jalen Hurts got into the endzone with a tush push after Kenneth Gainwell set him up with a 23 yard run down to the 1 yard line. 

With the game on the line, the Eagles go to their face of the franchise and Jalen Hurts doesn't disappoint. He takes it 12 yards for the game winning TD as the Eagles win another heart stopper. 

Swift bounces a run to the left side and he races down the sideline for a gain of 16 yards and a first down!

Short pass to Smith on the right side and he was wide open for the catch and the 11 yard pick up.

Hurts with the pass over the middle for Brown, and that pass was batted out of his hands, very close to a fumble but it was called incomplete.

Hurts had time, but nothing open down field so he runs out of bounds after a gain of 7 yards.

Blitz came and Hurts threw it off his back foot which forced a pass short of Brown.

Davis beat his man and was wide open in the endzone but Allen threw it one way and he ran the other!

Hurts up the middle on a QB draw and he picks up 3 yards.

Kelce flinched and is flagged for a false start. After the penalty Hurts was pressured by Ebensa and had his pass effected by the hit.

Jalen Hurts has thrown 3 TDs on his last four pass attempts. If you didn't see how the Alabama Crimson Tide (Hurts' alma mater) won the Iron Bowl, no need. Just watch this play because it was identical. 

This has been the downfall of Allen and the Bills. Their QB is prone to throwing very costly interceptions and it was Bradberry there to make the pick to set up the Eagles go ahead TD.

Allen is picked off on the stop route from Diggs and Bradyberry stepped infront of the WR to make the pick! This is the achilles heel for Josh Allen, who makes INTs in a lot of important moments of games.

WE ARE BACK IN PHILLY FOR THE SECOND HALF OF ACTION WITH THE EAGLES TRAILING BY 10. 

On third down, Allen finds Diggs right at the goal line for the 13 yard TD pass to take a 10 point lead into half. 

Allen was 19.32 for 209 yards and a TD in the first half. 

BUF looked like they were going to extend the lead with under 2:00 to in the second quarter, but a blocked field goal gave PHI the ball back with a chance to tie or take the lead. Hurts had another mistake, this time fumbling the handoff to Gainwell and Greg Rousseau was there to make the recovery. 

Hurts is 4/11 for 31 yards with 1 INT and 1 fumble. 

Josh Allen had himself a first half. On a wet day in Buffalo, he went for 209 yards and a TD, and has another 40 yards on the ground with a rushing TD. 

The Eagles turned it over twice in the first half, and this time it was Hurts whose pass was batted in the air and Terrel Bernard made the pick which set up the first Bills TD of the night. 

The Eagles drew first blood with the tush push from Hurts, set up by a 23 yard run by Gainwell. 

The Bills have scored two TDs on the night, both coming off of PHI turnovers. The first was the pick deep in Eagles territory which led to the Allen rushing TD, and the fumble leads to this 13 yard strike to Diggs to extend the lead before the half. 

An untimely mistake from Hurts leads to another TD for Buffalo! Hurts and Gainwell weren't on the same page which led to a second TO of the first half.

Allen rolls right and throws a strike to Diggs at the goal line and he makes the 13 yard TD pas right at the end of the half!!!

Allen finds Murray on the left side for a 5 yards gain but a holding call will back up the Bills on their 10th penalty of the day.

Tonight's odds

The Eagles return home as the 2.5 point favorite over the Bills with the Over/Under set at 48.5. 

The Eagles are the best team in the league, but the Bills are a desperate team and they are going to look to stun Philly. It's raining in Philly, but I like both teams to score a lot of points. 

Eagles win 28-24.

What lies ahead for Buffalo 

The going has been tough for the Buffalo over the last month, and unfortunately for Bills Mafia it’s only going to get tougher. They play the Eagles tonight, and then get a much needed BYE week before finishing up the season @ KC, vs. Dallas, @ Chargers, vs. Patriots and @ Dolphins. It just gives you an idea of how important each and every game is going to be for Buffalo who you would expect to need around 10 wins to get a Wild Card spot. Missing the playoffs is a real possibility for the Bills team that came into this year as one of the favorites in the AFC. 

AFC/NFC Standings

Taking a look at both the NFC and the AFC standings coming into tonight’s game we see the Eagles at the top of their conference with just a sole loss to the New York Jets. They have a two game lead over the Niners and the Lions who lost on Thanksgiving earlier this week. In the AFC, the Bills are falling behind the Dolphins in the divisional race, and are just holding on in the Wild Card picture. They are 6-5, but the Texans, Browns Steelers, Broncos and Raiders are all gunning for the three available spots at season’s end.

Hurts on the hunt

Jalen Hurts is not quite on the MVP pace he was last year, or is he? When it comes down to it, Hurts is the quarterback what has been the best team in the league over the first 11 weeks of the season. He has 2,497 yards which is 12th in the NFL and his 15 TDs has him tied for 13th with Joe Burrow and Baker Mayfield, not exactly eye popping numbers. He does have 345 yards on the ground and his 9 rushing TDs put him at a tie for 4th most behind Raheem Mostert, Christian McCaffery and Gus Edwards. They aren’t sensational numbers, but they are enough to carry Philly to win after win, and sometimes that comes into play during MVP voting. 

Allen looking to clean up his act

Josh Allen has been and still is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. His numbers speak for themselves, both through the air and on the ground. This year he has 2,875 yards passing (6th) and 22 TDs (2nd), while rushing for another 261 yards and 7 TDs. The problem has been his inability to hold on to the ball. He has thrown 12 interceptions which is second most, behind Sam Howell of the Washington Commanders and has fumbled three other times. It’s true that Allen has the ball in his hand for most of each and every game thanks to a sub par running game, but we saw the backfield come to life against the Jets. 

Bills last week

The Bills desperately needed a big win, and fortunately for them their Week 12 matchup came against a reeling New York Jets team. They had lost four of their previous six games and even their two wins in that span weren’t particularly impressive. Last week Buffalo’s defense held the Tim Boyle led New York Jets to just 6 points, while Josh Allen tossed three TDs, and his sole INT came on a Hail Mary at the end of the first half. They led 16-6 at half and Allen’s two second half TDs, including one to Khalil Shakir on an 81 yard catch and run.  

Eagles last week 

It was a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl, and the Eagles were out for revenge. They stormed Arrowhead and handed the Chiefs their third loss of the season with a second half comeback that proved they are the league’s top team. The offense only gained 238 yards, but that was enough to comeback from a 17-7 hafltime deficit. The defense came up with two red zone turnovers, a Patrick Mahomes INT in the first half, and a Travis Kelce fumble in the third quarter. Hurts ran in a ten yard 10 to cut the lead to 17-14, and D’Vonte Smith’s 41 yard catch to the one yard line led to a tush push from a yard out to give the Eagles the 21-17 lead.

Hello everyone and welcome to Philly where the Eagles proved that they are the best team in the league with a win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the rematch of last season’s Super Bowl. For as strange as it sounds the team with the top record in the league have yet to look their best but continue to get better every game, and they will need another strong performance against a Bills team that is in desperate need for a good win after losing three of their last four game before last weeks win over the Jets.
