WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM THE MEADOWLANDS!!!

Tonight's odds

Both of these teams are coming off of back to back losses. Both of these teams desperately need a win. But it’s the Bills that are a slight one point favorite with the Over/Under coming in at 41.

Coaching changes scare me. You never know how a team is going to come out and play after a midseason firing. That’s why I like the Bills tonight. They have shown they can play good football. The Jets have yet to show that. Tonight I think it’s Josh Allen and Buffalo taking it in the Meadowlands to get back into the win column and sink NY to a three game slide.

Bills win 25-12.

Head to head

This rivalry dates back to the early 60s when these two teams were first put in the same division. Since then there has been a bitter relationship between these team that has developed into a big rivalry. There have been a total of 127 games, including just one playoff game, and the Bills lead the historical series 69-58. The Bills have won three of the last five and seven of the the last 10. Their opening matchup of last year was the fateful game in which Aaron Rodgers tore his achilles. The Jets won that on a walkoff punt return, but the Bills would win the second matchup 32-6 as Josh Allen polished off the Jets with an 81 yard TD to Khalil Shakir.

New captain in New York

Ladies and gentleman, meet Jeff Ulbrich. He has been named the interim head coach for the rest of the season after the Jets axed Robert Saleh early last week. Ulbrich played for the San Francisco 49ers in all nine of his NFL seasons. After retiring from football he was named an assistant coach for Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks. He spent some time at UCLA before returning to the NFL with the Falcons. The Jets signed him to be their defensive coordinator under Robert Saleh, who is a defensive minded coach and now he takes over on the sidelines in the Meadowlands. He’s got a big one in his debut as the Jets head coach. The defense needs to be better and so does the offense. Nathaniel Hackett was demoted, and Todd Downing will be making the play calls after the Jets offense has come under heavy scrutiny over the last few weeks.

AFC Standings

Taking a look at the AFC standings, everyone is chasing the two time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. They are leading the conference at 5-0 while enjoying their BYE week while the Texans and Ravens are looking like the top two contenders in the AFC. The Bills have lost to both those teams to drop them to 3-2 and the Jets are sitting right below Buffalo at 2-3. Things in New York are a bit turbulent for the Jets right now, but if they win tonight they take the lead in the division.

Star watch: Bills

The Buffalo Bills live and die on the shoulders of Josh Allen. With the offseason departures, the coaching staff and front office staff rested their faith in Allen to lead them to the promise land. He’s not a bad option, considering he is one of the most effective dual threat passers. He has been accused of trying to do “too much” for his team in previous seasons, but this year he is actually going to have to do that. The first three games, that plan worked perfectly, but in the last couple games Allen has struggled. He went 16/29 for 180 in the blowout against the Ravens, and a staggering 9/30 against Houston for just 131 yards. Those are the games that the Bills are going to need Allen to step up and take control, but he has yet to do so. One thing he hasn’t done is throw an interception. He will need to keep it clean again while doing “too much” for his team tonight in the Meadowlands.

Why isn’t James Cook playing for the Bills against the Jets? MNF Week 6 injury status

Cook out for MNF

The Bills long list of injuries gets bigger tonight as their star running back James Cook has been listed as out for tonight's game. He suffered a toe injury against the Texans last week and was a late scratch about an hour before kickoff. That will put even more pressure on the shoulders of Josh Allen.

Star watch: Jets

Aaron Rodgers is not the Aaron Rodgers of old. He showed flashes of his old self in one of the early games in the season, but that has come and gone. His achilles is actually the one thing that looks like it’s holding up for him, but passing-wise, he doesn’t look like the four time MVP. At 40 years old, it’s only natural, but he’s doing things like thrown two picks in the first quarter which is a first for the former Packer. He hasn’t thrown for 300 yards since 2021. He doesn’t need to be that guy every week, but the Jets would love to see him prove he’s capable of that at one point.

Season recap: Jets

The Jets started the season with a primetime showdown against the Niners in San Fran, and dropped that game, but that was when we thought the Niners were going to be a lot better than they have been. So after Week 1, no harm no foul. Then they took on two terrible teams, the Titans and the Patriots. They snuck past the Titans in Tennessee and shutdown the toothless Patriots. An ugly loss to the Broncos in the rain fro the Meadowlands started to shake the foundation in NY and their loss in Minnesota was the last straw for coach Saleh. He was let go after just five weeks and now the Jets are looking for a midseason turn around with a new coach and an aging quarterback.

Season recap: Bills

The Bills came flying into the season after a handful of offseason offloads on the offensive side of the ball. Josh Allen had a new cast of characters that he was going to have to develop some chemistry with quickly. Everything looked perfect for three weeks. Allen led a comeback over the Cardinals in Week 1, James Cook had a hat trick of TDs in the second game against the Dolphins, and the Allen shredded the Jags with four TD passes in the first half. The schedule got tough and the Bills have faded. They got blown out against the Ravens and then lost to the Texans in a battle of AFC contenders, and now they come into tonight desperately hoping to stay above .500 and at the top of the AFC East.

Last game: Jets

The Jets met with the undefeated Minnesota Vikings in London last week, and things got pretty ugly from the start. Aaron Rodgers threw two picks in the first quarter for the first time in his career. One of those picks was taken to the house by Andres Van Ginkle. The Vikes would go up 17-0 before Rodgers could get the Jets into the end zone 36 seconds before the halftime break to give New York a little hope heading into the last 2 quarters. The Vikings offense slowed down as Sam Darnold struggled against the Jets defense, and Rodgers found Garett Wilson to cut the lead to 3 with 6:04 to go. Rodgers would get the ball back in a situation we have seen him lead his team to victory dozens of times, but with under a minute to go, down by 6, Rodgers was picked by Stephon Gilmore.

as.com

Last game: Bills

The Bills went down early to the Texans last week in Houston. CJ Stroud ad his team easing down the field for the first two quarters, and took a 17-3 lead over Buffalo as Josh Allen struggled for really the first time all season. It was Stroud who let the Bills back into the game, throwing a pick and fumbling to allow the Bills to sneak back in the game in the final two quarters. James Cook and Keon Coleman would close the deficit to three and Tyler Ball tied it up with just over 3:00 to go. Houston would get the ball last and Stroud set up a Ka’imi Fairbairn game winning 59 yard field goal as time expired.

We are live from Jersey

Hello everyone and welcome to the Meadowlands where the Jets are back stateside after an unsuccessful trip over the pond. New York lost their second straight game last week in London when the Minnesota Vikings controlled the Jets for all four quarters, and it cost former coach Robert Saleh his job. The Bills have come down off cloud nine after a dream start to the season. Two straight losses have handed Buffalo a dose of reality and now it’s time for Josh Allen to get them out of their rut after a blowout loss to the Ravens and a last second loss to the Houston Texans. Tonight both teams have a chance to end their losing streaks, and whoever does will take the lead in the division.
