WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM FORD FIELD!!!!
NFL standings
Taking a look at the NFL standings coming into the game, The Chiefs look like they are going improve to 13-1 which means the Bills have little to no chance to get the one seed. They will have to fend off the Steelers who have a tough game against the Eagles today. Behind them are the Texans, Ravens Chargers, and Broncos but everyone except Houston is most likely going to be fighting for a Wild Card spot. The Lions are at the top of the NFC, holding off the Vikings and the Eagles who both have just two losses. Like we said, the Eagles have a huge game and the Vikings have a division game in Chicago. The Lions know they just need to win out and they will have all of their playoff games at Ford Field. It doesn’t get much bigger than today’s game when it comes to regular season match ups.
Star watch: Lions
The two headed monster in Detroit’s back field has made this offense nearly unstoppable. David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, better known as Sonic and Knuckles have brought a balance to this team that has made Goff more dangerous as a passer and their receivers more dangerous as downfield threats. Gibbs went over 1,000 yards last week against the Packers, and has 10 TD runs while David Montgomery has 771 yards and 12 TDs. The best thing about these two is they are good buddies who have no quarrels on who gets more playing time or touches. That’s the kind of atmosphere that Dan Campbell has created in the locker room and that’s why this team is now the favorite in the NFC.
Star watch: Bills
There is no one to else to highlight in the Bills star watch portion of the preview. Josh Allen is the Buffalo Bills. If you need any further evidence look at what he did last week. Six total TDs, three throwing three passing while making NFL history. He was the MVP favorite going into last week, and had the Bills won that game we could have just handed him the trophy in Sofi Stadium. He isn’t top five in any QB statistic, but it’s been what he has done when his team needs him and the game in on the line. He has 3,033 yards, 23 TDs, and just five INTs which is really what has transformed this Bills offense. He is going to be the favorite to win the MVP for the rest of the year, and he can just about secure it with a win today.
Season recap: Lions
Everyone knew the Lions were going to be good this . I’m not sure we knew they would be this good. Detroit came into the season having just missed out on their first trip to the Super Bowl last year, and with another year under Dan Campbell and another year for what was already a great offense to get even better, we knew that the Lions had Super Bowl expectations. They won their first game against the Rams in OT, and lost their next to the Tampa Bay Bucs. Since then they have been unstoppable. They have rattled off 11 in a row beating teams like the two loss Vikings, The Packers twice, and the Texans in a game that Goff threw five picks. They haven’t been perfect every week, but they have been dominant most weeks. Tonight they might face their toughest test in a preview of a potential Super Sunday match up.
Season recap: Dolphins
After another year of coming up just short of the Super Bowl, the Bills offloaded a large part of their offensive arsenal and entrusted Josh Allen to lead a group of young, inexperienced weapons. Allen has risen to the occasion, and not just played like an MVP but has the Bills playing like one of the best teams in the league. The goal is to knock off the Chiefs in the playoffs, which is something they have had chances to do, but have come up short time and time again. They had a chance to play the Chiefs earlier this year and showed that they can beat KC in Arrowhead which looks to be what they will have to do if they are going to get to the Super Bowl. Buffalo is shooting for the two seed in the AFC, but will have to fend off the Steelers for the final few weeks of the season.
Last game: Lions
Detroit is coming off a mini BYE after taking on the Packers in a huge Thursday night NFC North battle. Again it was a big fourth down gamble that paid off for the Lions and their fearless coach Dan Campbell, but before that Detroit was up 17-7 after controlling the Packers on a night in which their defense was decimated by injury. Jared Goff knew he was going to have to be great, and he was. He threw for 283 yards and 3 TDs, but that wasn’t enough to pull away from the Packers who battled back and tied the game up thanks to a hat trick of touchdowns to tie the game up at 31-31 with 3:38 to go in the game. Goff and the Lions got the ball back and faced a crucial 4th and 1 at the GB 21 with 43 seconds to go. Goff slipped on the snap and almost fumbled the handoff, but Montgomery took it and moved the chains on the biggest run of the night. Jake Bates would walk it off with a 35 yard field goal to stretch the Lions streak to 11 games.
Last game: Bills
It was the highest scoring game in the NFL last week as Josh Allen and the Bills went 12 rounds with the Rams in LA. Both teams came out hot, scoring on each of their first drives. LA would kick a field goal on their next possession and the special teams would come up big again on the Bills next possession blocking a punt and taking it back for a touchdown. LA would go up 17 points early in the 3rd quarter, but Allen and the Bills kept clawing back into the game, as the odds on favorite for MVP passed for three TDs and rushed for three TDs. A historic effort from Allen wasn’t enough to down the Rams who took a big gamble with under 4:00 to go, going for it on 4th and 5 from the BUF 35 and Matthew Stafford hit Tutu Atwell to move the chains and set up a what would be a game winning TD to go up 9 and snap the Bills win streak.
We are live from Mo Town
Hello everyone and welcome to Detroit where the Lions are back at home for a third straight week and are looking to keep their 11 game win streak going. Dan Campbell’s team have been rolling through opponents since they last lost back in Week 2, and they come into today’s game in as the pole leaders for the one seed in the NFC, but they have a couple of teams right behind them waiting for them to slip up. The Bills will be hoping they are the team that puts an end to Detroit’s win streak today after their streak came to an end last week against the Rams. That loss might have cost them their shot at a one seed in the AFC, but they have already proven they can beat some of the best teams in the league and have another chance to prove that tonight.
Bills vs. Lions
What a game we have from the Motor City this afternoon. Two of the top teams in their respective conferences meet in a clash of the titans and a potential Super Bowl preview from Detroit. The Lions are on an 11 game win streak and have looked like the best team in the league all year. They will look to prove that again tonight against the Buffalo Bills who are coming off of a loss that snapped their seven game win streak. AS English will be with you all afternoon and into the night providing live coverage, stats, highlights and analysis of tonight’s game from Ford Field.
