Bills 42 vs Rams 44 summary, stats, scores and highlights | NFL Week 14
Allen became the first QB in the history of the league to run in three TDs and throw for three TDs, but it wasn't enough to top the Rams who needed a big day and had one. They are now just a game behind the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West heading into the final stretch of the season.
The Bills will now have a tougher path to one seed after seeing their seven game win streak come to an end. They have the division wrapped up, but would love to see the Chiefs slip up a couple of times.
The Rams had a gutsy, gutsy call on 4th and 5 from the BUF 35. Stafford hit Tutu Atwell to move the chains and extend the drive and on the play after the Two Minute Warning Puca Nacua called game. He got a couple of great blocks, one from his WR partner Cooper Kupp and Nacua finished the night with 162 yards and a TD on 12 catches, none more important than this one that sealed the game and kept the Rams in the playoff race.
If the Bills would have won this game, I think we could have just given the MVP award to Allen tomorrow. He was incredible all night long, throwing for 342 yards and 3 TDs on 22/37 passing. This pass was his finest of the night, as he dropped it right into the chest of Mack Hollins
You know Josh Allen was going to respond on a night that his defense got shredded by the LA pass game. He and Khalil Shakir put the team on his shoulders on almost willed them to a massive comeback in the 4th quarter. I'm still not sure how Shakir made this catch, but somehow he did and that set up Allen's 2nd QB sneak of the night.
Stafford was flawless on the night. He went to Nacua 12 times, and that's almost enough to make you forget about Cooper Kupp, but just when you take your eye off him for a second, he strikes. Kupp had 5 catches for 92 yards and this TD that put the Rams back up 17 points heading into the 4th quarter.
The Bills had back to back penalties that left them with a 1st and 30. Josh Allen had a nice scramble to bring up 3rd and manageable and then he hit Khalil Shakir on this crossing route that he took 51 yards to the house to give the Bills a ray of hope for Sofi Stadium.
The Rams forced the Bills to into a three and out on the first drive of the third quarter, and then drove it down the field to take their most commanding lead of the afternoon. Kyren Williams scored his second TD of the day in a game that he went for 87 yards on 29 carries.
Nacua didn't just do it through the air, he took a handful of handoffs and took one of them to the end zone to stretch the lead back to two possessions. He had 5 rushes for 16 yards, but that was enough to get the Rams into the end zone for the first of his two TDs.
Puka Nacua had himself a night. This catch on the sideline might be the best catch of the season. Look at the footwork, the body control and the hands. This would set up a TD run a few plays later.
The Bills bounced back after the blocked punt and needed just four plays to do so. Allen hit Ty Johnson in the flat and Johnson did the rest, taking it 41 yards to the house!
The Rams went down and kicked a field goal on their next drive and then the special teams came up with one of the plays of the night after the Rams D held Buffalo to a three and out. Hunter Long made the scoop and score after Hummel blocked the punt.
Josh Allen and the Bills would answer back on their first drive of the night with this QB sneak that was set up by a pass interference call on 3rd down that extended the drive and allowed Buffalo the chance to tie the game late in the first quarter.
What a game we had from LA. Where do we start after such a wild game? Let's start at the top. The Rams came into to this game needing a win to keep pace in the NFC West, and they played like a desperate team.
Matt Stafford had a huge day, but the Rams established the run game early on to open things up in the passing game. Kyren Williams had 7 runs on the first drive of the day, including this TD to start what would be a very busy night for the score board operator.

NFL Standings
Taking a look at the standings in both conferences, we see the Bills at the top for their division, with that title wrapped up so they can focus on trying to win the AFC and getting home field advantage throughout the playoffs. They have to keep winning and hope the Chiefs lose at least a game so they can jump them for the top spot in the conference. The Rams only chance to get into the playoffs is going to be by winning the NFC West which is looking like the tightest race in the league. The Seahawks are 7-5 while the Cardinals and Rams sit behind them at 6-6 and the Niners are at the bottom of the division at 5-7, but still not out of the race. LA has three more games against NFC West opponents, so they will need to win those games and hope to win one or both of their other games outside of the division.
Star watch: Rams
It’s hard to measure which WR is more important for Matt Stafford and the LA offense. Cooper Kupp has been the reference point for basically the last decade, but Puka Nacua is on the verge of overtaking him as Stafford’s favorite target. Nacua is basically a spitting image of Kupp, just a little bigger, stronger and maybe a little faster. He’s got 42 catches for 546 yards and has caught two TDs, including last week’s game winner in New Orleans. Cupp has similar numbers, with 58 catches for 565 yards and 5 TDs. Both have been battling injuries, but the Rams stars are getting healthy at the right time and that could be the difference maker in the NFC West.
Star watch: Bills
If there is a more important player for their team than Josh Allen is to the Buffalo Bills, I haven’t seen him. Allen does everything for this team, and if the coach let him he would would get out there with the defense and play a little linebacker while the offense is on the sideline. His numbers aren’t among the top passers in the league, but they haven’t needed to be. Take last week for example when he went 13/17 for 148 yards and two TDs in the snow, oh yea and he ran one in and he had a receiving TD. He has been in the MVP conversation for a long time, but this is the first year where he is the front runner. If he keeps play like this he is a shoe in for MVP, but more importantly the Bills are going to have a real shot of winning the AFC.
Season recap: Rams
The Rams season boils down to Matt Stafford and his dynamic duo of WRs who might be the best tandem in the league. They came out and took the Detroit Lions to overtime to show that they could compete with the favorites in the NFC. LA got hit by the injury bug and saw both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp sidelined which lead to a 1-4 start to the season. They would beat the Raiders without their two WRs, and the next week, both WRs came back to lead them to a win over the two loss Vikings. They have won four of six since the return of Cupp and Nacua, and are currently 6-6 with five games to go. If they are going to get to the playoffs, the best way to do so is win the final five games of their season, three of which will be against their NFC West rivals.
Season recap: Buffalo
The Bills had a lot of question marks surrounding them coming into this season after letting a handful of their stars go in the offseason. That meant it was going to be up to Josh Allen and a load of inexperienced, unproved receivers to try and make up for the firepower that was offloaded over the summer. Allen has taken this team on his shoulders and turned it into a contender once again. Buffalo won their first three games of the season, scoring no less than 31 points in any one of those games. A two game losing skid to the Ravens and the Texans, both on the road called this team into question but since then the Bills have been on a roll. Seven straight wins, six straight games with 30+ points, a division title and a real chance at a one seed in the AFC has shown the Bills aren’t just back, they might be better than ever.
Last game: Rams
It was a 7-6 game going into the final quarter from the Super Dome, but Matthew Stafford did what’s he’s done so many times. He stepped up when his team needed him, put the team on his shoulders and carried them to victory. Before he could do that, the Rams defense kept the Saints from crossing the goal line on their two trips inside the red zone, but still trailed 6-0 at half. Kyren Williams ran in a 4 yard TD to start the third quarter and Stafford would take over in the final 15 minutes. He hit Demarcus Robinson with a deep pass for 46 yards on the final play of the 3rd quarter and that set up a TD pass for Robinson on the first play of the fourth quarter. The Saints answered back with a TD and two point conversion on their next play to tie the game up, but Stafford and Puka Nacua connected with a TD pass to take the lead with 9 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. New Orleans had a chance to tie the game up in the final minutes but Derek Carr got sacked on a 4th and 3 play inside the LA 10 and the Rams held on to win a huge game to stay in the NFC West race.
Last game: Bills
It was a snowy Sunday night in Buffalo and the Bills used their time in the spotlight to further announce their candidacy as a contender for the Lomardi Trophy while potentially putting an end to the Niners run as contenders in the NFC. San Fran took the early lead with a field goal, but that wouldn’t last long. The Bills scored TDs on their next three drives to take a 21-3 lead at halftime thanks to a couple of rushing TDs, and Allen’s first of three TDs on the night. The defense continued to dominate in the snow and holding Brock Purdy to under 100 yards while Allen went 13/17 for 148 yards and two TD passes, ran for another one and registered a TD catch on a pass that he threw becoming the first QB to take a pass that he threw in for a TD. The Bills rolled to a 35-10 win to set up today’s huge game out west.
We are live from Sofi
Hello everyone and welcome to LA where the Rams are back home after a successful trip down to New Orleans that kept them in the race for the NFC West. It wasn’t the typical Rams game where they light up the score board and outlast the other team in a shootout, but Matt Stafford did just enough to keep pace with the rest of the pack chasing the Seattle Seahawks at the top of the division. The Bills didn’t just wrap up their division for the fifth year running last week, they are nipping at the heels of the Chiefs who currently sit on top of the AFC with just one loss all year. The Bills have rattled off seven straight wins since a two game slide in the middle of the season. They beat the Chiefs to take the tie breaker against them, but they know they need to keep winning if they are going to have a chance at hosting all of their playoff games at Orchard Park.
