Broncos 24 - 22 Bills summary, stats, scores and highlights | Week 10

The Denver Broncos rattled off their third straight win in dramatic fashion as Wil Lutz hit a game winning field goal to sink the Bills in Buffalo.

Take a look back at all of the Week 10 scores with AS English.

- Broncos looking to keep winning streak alive after BYE

- Buffalo yearning for a good performance after five turbulent weeks

- Bills fumble and throw a pick in first quarter.

- Sutton makes incredible catch on 4th down for 1st TD of night

- BUF lucky to go into half down just 7 after three TOs

- BUF take first lead with under 2:00 to go with Allen rushing TD

- Lutz hits game winner on second try after 12 men penalty on BUF

From 36 yards out, Wil Lutz seals the deal for the Broncos and secures their third straight win while sending the Bills spiraling down the AFC standings after their fourth loss in their last six.

as.com

Down by one, the Broncos had enough time to drive down field, and on 3rd and 10 around midfield Buffalo brought a blitz to try to keep the Broncos out of field goal range. Wilson threw up another prayer to Jerry Jeudy, and a flag flew for pass interference on the Bills with 29 seconds to go.

The penalty put the Broncos at the BUF 17 yard line, and the Broncos ran the same play they did at the end of the first half but Wil Lutz missed the 41 yard field goal! Another flag flew against the Bills, this time for too many men on the field, giving Denver a second chance to win the game.

as.com

With just under 2:00 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Bills took their first lead of the game with this Josh Allen scramble from 6 yards out. He finished the game with 177 yards going 15/26 with one passing TD, one rushing TD, one fumble and two INTs. There are some serious questions Allen is going to have to answer after the home loss to the Broncos.

as.com

The Broncos took the lead back with a 12 play, 7 minute drive that was capped off by this Russell Wilson pass to Javonte Williams from three yards out. Wilson went 24/29 for 193 yards and threw two TDs, but despite the BUF turnovers the Broncos could never take control of this game.

The hold on the PAT was fumbled after this TD, and the Bills saw their opening to win this game despite all of the turnovers and flags.

as.com

It seemed like the Bills finally had momentum on their side after tying the game up, but this fumbled exchange between Allen and James Cook gave Denver their 4th take away of the night and ninth in the last two games.

Hard to blame Cook on this fumble. He responded from his early fumble by going for 109 yards on 12 carries.

as.com

The Bills forced their sole take away on a third down play that Sutton was trying to fight for a first down, and the Bills took advantage of the TO by tying the game on this three yard run from Latavius Murray. Murray ended the night with 68 yards and a TD on 9 carries.

as.com

This was the final play of the second quarter. Denver didn't have any TOs, so they had to rush the FG unit on the field with the clock running and Lutz and the Broncos ran a flawless play to stretch the lead to 15-8 going into the second half. The Broncos would have to run this play at the end of the second half, and wait until you see what happened.

as.com

The Broncos went down the field and kicked a field goal before the halftime break, but left time on the clock for the Bills to go down the field and score, or for Josh Allen to throw his second pick of the night on the first play of the drive. That led to another Denver field goal on the final play of the first half.

The kicking game took a leading roll in the Broncos struggles, and eventual victory. Wil Lutz banged his first PAT off the goal post, hit two first half field goal, and on the Broncos second TD the hold was bobbled leading to a second failed PAT attempt. But the FG unit would have the last laugh at game's end.

as.com

The Bills answered back by finally getting on the board before halftime, and they did it by running the ball. Latavius Murray carried Buffalo down the field and that opened up the field for Allen to find Dalton Kincaid on this 22 yard TD pass.

as.com

The Next Gen stats gave Wilson a less then 4% chance of completing this pass, which is the lowest since Next Gen started doing stats for the NFL. Somehow, someway, Wilson's prayed was answered with this incredible toe tap catch by Courtland Sutton for the night's first TD.

as.com

On the Bills next drive, Allen had the Bills moving down the field, but he fired a pass to Gabe Davis who couldn't handle the heat and Justin Simmons was waiting to make the pick and force the second Bills turnover in the first seven minutes of the game.

as.com

Penalties and turnover cost the Bills the game on Monday night in Buffalo. They started the game off with a fumble when James Cook was stripped on the first play of the game. Denver had just come off a game in which they forced 5 turnovers and got the night started off in perfect fashion in Orchard Park.

Hard to put Allen at blame for this one. He put it right in the hands of Davis, but it came in like a laser and the WR couldn't reel it in.

INTERCEPTION!!

Allen threw a dart over the middle for Davis and that came in too hot for the WR, who saw the ball slip through his hands and Simmons goes diving for the interception! Takeaway number two for the Broncos in the opening two Bills drives.

The Bills won the toss and they want the ball to start the game. Allen and Buffalo will start the game from the 25.

Tonights odds

The Bills return home needing a win and the bookmakers are loading up on the Bills. They are 7.5 point favorites and the Over/Under is set at 47.5.

I don't like that spread, I think it's a lot of points for a primetime game with a team coming off a BYE, so I'm taking the over. The Bills defense isn't that good, and I think Wilson will be able to keep pace with Buffalo's offense.

Bills win 31-24.

Denver D's resurgence

It was a disastrous start to the season for this Denver defense. Over the first five games of the season they gave up an average of 35.8 ppg which led to 4 losses and just one narrow win over the Chicago Bears. Since then, there has been a drastic turning of the tide, as Vance Joseph’s unit has allowed just 15 ppg over the last three games. What makes that even more impressive is the fact that they played the Chiefs in two of those games. Even in their loss to KC in Week 7 they gave up just 19 points to Mahomes and the Chiefs, and held them to 9 last game. Sandwiched in the middle of that was their 19-17 win over the Packers. Let’s see how the defense comes out tonight against a wounded Bills team after a week off.

Super Bowl odds plummeting

The Buffalo Bills came into the season as one of the favorites to make it to Super Bowl Sunday out of the AFC. Coming into to Week 10, they had dropped all the way to the 10th favorite in the eyes of the bookmakers, and the sixth favorite in the AFC. The Chiefs are the odds on front runner to repeat at +500 according to Draft Kings Sportsbook. The Niners have the same odds out of the NFC, with two other conference contenders, the Philadelphia Eagles (+550) nipping at their heels.  The Ravens are +900 and the Cowboys round out the top five at +1000. The Bills have fallen all the way back to +2000 after the halfway point of the season. If you still believe in the Bills, it may not be a bad bet to take them while the odds are that low.

Wilson's sneaky season

While the Broncos offense hasn’t quite been clicking yet, it’s hard to place the blame on Russell Wilson. The former Super Bowl champ had a nightmare of a season in his first year in Denver, and it seemed like he and the Broncos were headed down that same path, but there has been a course correction in the last month. When you look at the stats he is right up there with the best QBs in the game when it comes to TDs and INTs. He has 16 touchdowns and has only thrown 4 picks after eight games, but his 1,631 yards currently puts him at 26th in the league. Tonight he knows its going to be up to him to try to keep pace with the Bills who are going to try to run the score up and unleash some pent up frustration on the Broncos.

Allen with the weight of Buffalo on his shoulders

There just isn’t the same vibe, or swagger that we are used to seeing from the Buffalo Bills in their last few games. There is a sense of urgency to get back to playing the kind of football that Bills Mafia is used to seeing before the Super Bowl window shuts in Orchard Park for another long while. A lot of that urgency, and pressure, falls on the shoulders of this man, Josh Allen. He has thrown picks in each of the Bills last five games, but hasn’t played terribly. He passed for a season high 359 yards against the Jags, but Buffalo only turned that into 20 points. That was the game that started the slide, and since then their only wins have come against the Giants and the Bucs. He is just 360 yards behind Sam Howell who has the most passing yards in the league this year, and his 18 TDs are tied with Kirk Cousins for second in the NFL, behind Tua Tagovailoa’s 19. If the Bills are going to turn things around, it has to happen soon.

Bills last game

It was a matchup of two preseason favorites in the AFC, but there was only one team that looked like they were on track to make a deep run in the playoffs, and it wasn’t the Buffalo Bills. Joe Burrow and the Bengals put up almost 400 yards off offense, and the Cincy QB passed for 348 yards. A late first half TD pass to Cam Sample put the Bengals up 21-7, and the Bills squandered a chance make the game tight in the early part of the fourth quarter when Dalton Kincaid fumbled on the CIN 11 yard line. Cincy would take the ball down and kick a field goal stretching the lead to 24-10, and the Bills would get a consolation TD with three and a half remaining in the 4th quarter, but the Bengals picked up a couple first downs and ran out the clock.

Broncos last game

No one expected the Broncos to even put up a fight against the Kansas City Chiefs in their game in Denver two weeks ago. Their defense, the same one that allowed 70 points to the Dolphins, shut down the reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, holding them out of the end zone for the entirety of the game, and off the scoreboard for the final 30 minutes. KC turned the ball over five times which made life easy for Russell Wilson and the Broncos offense. Wilson completed just 12 passes all game, but three of those went for TDs and the running game totaled 153 yards, led by Javonte Williams who had 85 yards on 27 carries to secure the Broncos third win of the season.

We are live from Buffalo

Hello everyone and welcome to Highmark Stadium where the Buffalo Bills return home for a second straight primetime game, hoping that tonight goes a better than their Sunday night matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. They have lost three of their last five games, and have looked a shade of the team that beat the Miami Dolphins 48-20 in Week 4. The Broncos had a horrendous start to their season, but it seems as though Sean Payton and the Broncos are starting to turn things around. They have won two straight games including a big division win over the Chiefs and now have a chance to make a statement tonight with another quality win against a team that was previously thought to be a Super Bowl contender at the start of the season.
