Browns give Isaiah Bond lie detector test amid sexual assault investigation
The Cleveland Browns signed rookie wide receiver Isaiah Bond after sexual assault charges against him were dropped, but he was forced to take a polygraph.

Wide receiver Isaiah Bond was expected to be a middle-round pick in the NFL Draft back in April, but he was charged with sexual assault just a few weeks ahead of the draft. He ended up going undrafted despite a stellar performance at the NFL Combine.
Now, the charges have been dropped and the Cleveland Browns have officially signed Bond onto the team.

Bond still proving himself to Browns after signing
On Thursday, Bond was “no-billed” by a grand jury in Collins County, Texas, which means there was not sufficient evidence to charge him, so the sexual assault case was dismissed. On Monday, the Browns signed Bond to a three-year, $3millon deal, fully guaranteed. Still, the team had to issue Bond an independent polygraph test.
In his final season at Texas, Bond logged 99 catches for 1,428 yards, and 10 touchdowns across 41 games. At the NFL Combine, Bond ran the ninth-fastest time of all wide receivers in the 40-yard dash, finishing in 4.39 seconds. Ahead of the draft, Bond had visits with the Browns, who said they’ve done “extensive research” about his case.

“Before the allegations, we also spent a great deal of time with Isaiah during the draft process on campus, at the Combine and at our facilities,” Cleveland general manager Andrew Berry said in a statement.
“His time at Alabama with Tommy Rees also weighed heavily on our assessment of his ability to operate successfully in a professional environment if brought into our organization. It is these touchpoints and more that gave us the necessary insights to make this decision.”
The Browns will play their final preseason game this Saturday, August 23 against the Los Angeles Rams, and head coach Kevin Stefanski said it’s not too late for Bond to make a case for himself and earn his place on the team.
“That happens during the season, can happen in training camp where you got, you have to get players up to speed quickly,” Stefanski said. “That happens sometimes you get a guy on a Wednesday and they have to play on a Sunday. So that’s part of our job as coaches, is to get them ready to roll.”
