Browns QB1 reveal for season opener coming soon!
The Browns’ QB room is crowded, and while the rookies have been battling it out in the preseason, Stefanski is preparing to tell us the starter for Week 1.

The Cleveland Browns added a lot of volume to their quarterback roster this offseason. While it’s widely expected that Joe Flacco will get the start now that Deshaun Watson will be out for most of the season, nothing is certain in Cleveland, Ohio.
But the Browns have also got veteran Kenny Pickett and two intriguing rookies - Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders - to complicate the decision. Because Flacco is expected to start, he’s been on the sidelines throughout the preseason. Pickett also hasn’t seen the field as he’s been sidelined with an injury.
Meanwhile, Sanders and Gabriel have been making their own cases.
Kevin Stefanski set to name Browns starter - Who has the edge?
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said he will soon announce the team’s starting quarterback for their September 7 season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“I want to get through the next couple days. But certainly that’s something that we’re going to do here sooner than later,” Stefanski said on Sunday. “I need to get the football team in here, talk to the players, those type of things.”
Joe Flacco, who has taken most of the first-team reps in camp and remained healthy, still appears to be the frontrunner. Kenny Pickett (hamstring) and Shedeur Sanders (oblique) have both been sidelined but could return this week. Sanders had an impressive two-TD performance in the first week of the preseason in the Browns’ victory over the Carolina Panthers, but Dillon Gabriel, coming off his own hamstring issue, also played well in their second preseason win over the Philadelphia Eagles, completing 13 of 18 passes for 143 yards despite two turnovers.
Stefanski praised Gabriel’s poise on third downs and noted practices this week will simulate regular-season prep ahead of Saturday’s preseason finale against the Rams.
