Browns release brand new helmet for the 2025, and chaos ensues
The Cleveland Browns are in for a wild ride this season. They drafted Shedeur Sanders, have a QB competition in training camp and a brand new look.
The Cleveland Browns will finally be brown. The franchise that is one of the oldest in the league has never won a Super Bowl, but they will be hoping that all changes with the release of their “Alpha Dawg” helmets they just released on Wednesday afternoon.
Dropping some Browns knowledge
Before we go any further, lets get to a bit of history. Why are the Cleveland Browns called the Browns? The team was named after it’s original coach and co-founder Paul Brown. Back in 1946 when the team was founded there was a fan contest to choose the name of the Cleveland team. The fans chose the Browns to honor the coach who brought the team to the city.
Since then they have had their classic white or brown jerseys depending on if they were home or away. The franchise hasn’t fiddled with the color combinations much since the 1940s. The jerseys have undergone very few changes, and the helmet has been the classic orange with the brown and white stripes down the middle.
The orange helmets were implemented by the team in the 1950s when the team joined the NFL. It was more function than fashion for the Browns. Back then, night games were played with white balls, and to contrast the color of the ball, the Browns went with the orange lids.
The Alpha Dawg makes helmet history
Now, for the first time ever, the Browns will have brown helmets as they released their “Alpha Dawg” alternate jerseys on the second day of training camp. The team released a video with the caption, “a new look up top, molded by hardened toughness.”

The Browns helmets are brand new, but they have gone with an alternate look before. They went with a white jersey and a white based helmet back in 2023. The helmets had brown and orange stripes, and were a big hit with Browns fans. These are sure to be an even bigger hit.
