It’s going to be a clash of division leaders when the San Francisco 49ers host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Dec. 11, with kickoff at 4:25 p.m. ET / 1:25 p.m. PT.

The 49ers, who lead the NFC West with an 8-4 record, have lost quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to injury but they will be looking to extend their five-game winning streak.

Purdy does purdy well

After Garoppolo sustained his season-ending foot injury, the 49ers turned to rookie quarterback Brock Purdy, who delivered a solid performance against the Miami Dolphins, whom they destroyed 33-17.

The backup QB completed 25-of-37 passes for 210 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. Star running back Christian McCaffrey caught one of the touchdown passes, and ended the game with 146 total yards on 25 touches.

The 2022 Draft’s Mr. Irrelevant will get his first chance to be a starter against seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, who is more than twice his age.

Bucs move back to win column

The Buccaneers meanwhile are fresh from a dramatic come-from-behind 17-16 win over the New Orleans Saints. Tampa leads the NFC South, but has just gotten back to the win column with a 6-6 record.

Despite the fact that San Francisco will be starting with a rookie, Tampa will enter the Sunday game as a 3.5-point underdog, while the over/under is set at 37. Brady’s bunch will be hard-pressed to score as they will face one of the top defenses in the NFL.
