Estados Unidos Update:

New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo has spoken publicly for the first time since suffering a gruesome right ankle dislocation that ended his debut NFL season.

“Thank you everyone for the support!! Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me,” Skattebo wrote on X. “Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff that did their best work on me.”

What happened to Cam Skattebo?

The injury occurred in the second quarter of the Giants’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles, when linebacker Zack Baun tackled Skattebo as he tried to catch a pass from quarterback Jaxson Dart. Medical staff from both teams immediately rushed onto the field at Lincoln Financial Field. Skattebo had to leave the stadium with his leg in a brace.

Giants rookie optimistic about NFL future

Despite the devastating setback, the 23-year-old remains optimistic about his NFL future.

“This is just the beginning of my journey and I can’t wait to show you guys all about it!!!” he said. “GOD has a plan for me, stick the course and it will all work itself out, BRB.”

At the time of his exit, the former Arizona State standout had 12 rushing yards and 18 receiving yards, including a touchdown catch from Dart.

A promising rookie season cut short

Before the injury, Skattebo had earned a significant role in New York’s offense. In his first year in the league, he rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns, adding another 207 yards and two scores as a receiver.

With Skattebo sidelined, the Giants will now have to rely on Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary to carry the load in the backfield. The simplest roster move would be to elevate practice squad running back Dante Miller for game days.
