Cardinals make big Kyler Murray QB call for Monday Night Football game against Cowboys

After starting the regular season with back-to-back victories, the Arizona Cardinals head into Monday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys on a five-game losing streak. First-choice quarterback Kyler Murray has missed the team’s last two games and won’t start in Week 9 either, despite being back in contention to play.

Brissett to start again for Arizona

On Saturday, head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed that Jacoby Brissett, who started in defeats to the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers in Weeks 6 and 7 before Arizona’s Week 8 bye, will once again be the Cardinals’ starting quarterback against the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Monday.

Gannon explained that Murray, a limited participant in practice on Thursday and Friday, isn’t ready to play a full game following a foot injury. However, the Cardinals coach said there is still a chance Murray “could have a role” at some point during the game, depending on how things go in practice before kickoff.

“We’ve been pushing, he’s been pushing,” Gannon said.

Murray’s and Brissett’s records

After leading the Cardinals to a 2-0 start through Weeks 1 and 2, Murray is now 2-3 for the season after losing three straight games prior to his injury, taking his overall NFL record to 38-48-1.

Brissett, meanwhile, is 0-2 for the 2025 regular season and holds a 19-36 record as a starting quarterback in his career.
