Cardinals suffer crushing setback with veteran RB sidelined indefinitely
The Arizona Cardinals lost to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, but they had even worse news surrounding running back James Conner.

On Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals suffered a devastating loss to the San Francisco 49ers, 16-15. But even more devastating still is the fact that their starting running back, James Conner, was carted off the field with an ankle injury.

What injury does James Conner have and when will he return for the Cardinals?
In the third quarter of the game, Conner was hit both high and low at the same time and as he was being tackled, his leg bent awkwardly, leaving teammates visibly shaken. He was carted off the field and designated with an ankle injury and did not return to the game.
WAY too many injuries today...Cardinals RB James Conner is being carted off the field after being tackled very awkwardly.

It’s now been confirmed that he will undergo surgery and is out for the season. A veteran leader and key piece of Arizona’s offense, Conner’s absence leaves major questions for the Cardinals’ backfield. Before leaving the game, he had nine carries for 22 yards.

Second-year rusher Trey Benson has shown flashes and may be asked to take on a bigger role, while Emari Demercado could see more snaps. On Sunday, Benson became the top rusher and has 21 carries for 125 yards through three games now.
With the Cardinals thin at running back, the team must quickly figure out how to adjust after the emotional and costly defeat.
