The Chicago Bears have handed over the first overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a number of first round picks, according to multiple reports.
With this move, the Bears will have the ninth overall pick this year and the first pick of the Panthers in 2024, as well as the second-round picks in 2023 and 2025. Wide receiver DJ Moore is reported to have been included in the deal.

Panthers aim for franchise quarterback
This move guarantees that the Panthers will draft the best available prospect so that they can have their potential franchise quarterback. The leading candidates are Anthony Richardson, C.J. Stroud, and Bryce Young. This comes after QB Derek Carr chose to play for the New Orleans Saints over the Carolina franchise.
The Bears have already found a solid quarterback in 24-year-old Justin Fields, which allowed them to trade down, having no urgency at acquiring a new player in the team’s most important position.
