CBS reveals 2025 NFL broadcast teams - and there’s a big new addition
The 2025 NFL season is just around the corner and CBS will kick off their coverage on Sunday, September 7 with an unexpected debut by a star defender.

The NFL preseason is already nearly here with the Hall of Fame Game kicking things off on Thursday. Then it’s just a matter of weeks separating us from the start of a brand new season.
With that, CBS Sports has officially announced its NFL announcer lineup for the 2025 season.
Star defender joins CBS booth
CBS will be bringing back the familiar top team of Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Tony Romo (analyst), and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson for their ninth consecutive year. The trio will headline the network’s coverage, including marquee matchups like the Thanksgiving showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys.
Joining them are four other key booth teams:
- Ian Eagle and J.J. Watt (new role as a game analyst)
- Kevin Harlan and Trent Green
- Andrew Catalon with Charles Davis and Jason McCourty
- Spero Dedes with Adam Archuleta

The new studio crew for “The NFL Today“ will see James Brown returning to lead alongside Bill Cowher, Nate Burleson, and Matt Ryan. Other new additions include Logan Ryan as a part-time analyst and Beth Mowins and Chris Lewis handling select play-by-play duties.
CBS kicks off its 66th year of NFL coverage with Week 1 matchups including Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets, Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers, and Houston Texans at Los Angeles Rams.
