CeeDee Lamb injury update: Cowboys WR not expected to land on IR
The Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver suffered an injury during their Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

The Dallas Cowboys are having a rough 2025 season so far. Not only is their defense one of (if not the) worst in the NFL, but they’ve been dealing with several injuries, and added a new significant one to the list on Sunday when wide receiver CeeDee Lamb left the game against the Chicago Bears early.
What injury does CeeDee Lamb have and when will he return?
Lamb left the Week 3 game after suffering an ankle injury. He tried to come back in, but left again after just one play. While owner Jerry Jones initially reported positive feedback, it seems Lamb suffered a high-ankle sprain.

Initially, Lamb told reporters he felt confident that he’d be back on the field in time for the Cowboys’ Week 4 Sunday Night Football matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case.
The timeline for Lamb’s return is still a little murky, with Jerry Jones saying they expect him to be out at least a month. But NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said that Lamb is expected to miss at least two games and then be considered week-to-week.
Jones had said that placing Lamb on Injured Reserve, which would rule him out for at least four weeks, would be a discussion, but Rapoport later reported that it would be unlikely. That’s positive news for Dallas, as it hints that the team expects Lamb to return sooner than four weeks.

Without Lamb, the Cowboys are left with George Pickens, Jalen Tolbert, Kavontae Turpin, and Ryan Flournoy at wideout. Prescott has also been favoring tight end Jake Ferguson as one of his top targets lately, and he looks to rely on him even more with Lamb on the sidelines. While Pickens will be the likely WR1, Turpin has also taken on a bigger role beyond special teams and could see an increased workload.
