Chiefs - Dolphins in Germany: injury report | Will Patrick Mahomes play?
The game between Kansas City and Miami boasts numerous storylines, yet one request stands out: a showdown between Jalen Ramsey and Travis Kelce.
American football enthusiasts in Germany are impatient for the Miami Dolphins versus Kansas City Chiefs game.
The Chiefs’ defense is scrutinized due to their easy schedule, and Miami’s dynamic formations could give them trouble. Patrick Mahomes had a subpar performance last week, so questions about their offensive talent remain. The game allows both teams to prove themselves on an international stage.
One player to watch is Xavien Howard, whose availability and performance could have a significant impact on the Dolphins’ defense. His matchup against Jaylen Ramsey on the Chiefs’ side adds another layer of intrigue to the game.
Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have a similar injury list for Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs as in Week 8. Guard Robert Hunt and safety Brandon Jones are out due to injuries sustained during the Dolphins’ previous game. Starting safety Jevon Holland will return after missing the last game due to a concussion. Eight players are questionable, with Terron Armstead being the most notable.
Raheem Mostert and Jalen Ramsey were limited in practice but not designated with a game status, so they will likely play. If Durham Smythe can’t play, rookie free agent Julian Hill or fullback Alec Ingold may replace him.
Kansas City Chiefs and their chief player, Patrick Mahomes
QB Patrick Mahomes was a full participant in practice despite a left-hand injury and wasn’t given a game status designation.
The rest of the Kansas City Chiefs’ final injury report was much shorter compared to the Miami Dolphins’ report. Only one player was ruled out due to illness, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who was ruled out on Thursday. Wide receiver Richie James, on the other hand, is on injured reserve due to a knee injury but was a full participant in practice all week and is also listed as questionable. Linebacker Willie Gay Jr. is also doubtful to play after being limited in practice on Thursday and Friday. He did not practice on Wednesday while the team was still in Kansas City.
Running back Jerick McKinnon and punter Tommy Townsend are without a designation and are good to go. Coach Andy Reid revealed that Willie Gay was limited in practice but made progress and could do some things on Friday. Meanwhile, Richie James logged three days as a full participant but remains on injured reserve. His questionable status suggests the Chiefs may activate him to the 53-man roster on Friday or Saturday. They currently have an open roster spot.
The Chiefs declared running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire out for the game on Thursday due to an illness. As he was sick, the team kept him off the flight to Germany. This leaves only two other running backs available so that La’Mical Perine could be elevated for the game.
Coach Reid remains optimistic about Gay and James, saying, “We’ll see on that — just how that goes.”
