Chiefs need tough games to win the Super Bowl - Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs looked like they may not make it to victory against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, but quarterback Patrick Mahomes was able to lead them to the win in overtime. With the Chiefs trailing 17-9 in the fourth quarter, Mahomes managed a 20-yard run at 3rd and 17 to keep the drive alive and keep their hopes at a comeback alive with it. It was his scramble for a 14-yard touchdown plus a 2-point conversion that kept them in the game, tied it up, and sent it into overtime.

“You’ve got to be able to win a game like that,” said Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. “Where everything just isn’t perfect and your emotions are up and down, and you’ve got to fight through that and be able to rally. Someone has got to step up and rally.”

That someone was Patrick Mahomes, with his three notable scrambles, converting on 3rd and 17, scoring the game-tying touchdown and the two-point conversion. He used his legs to extend plays further and set up big plays, including a 27-yard pass to Noah Gray in overtime that set up the game-winning field goal.

“These are the games you’re going to need if you want to try to win the Super Bowl,” said Mahomes after the 20-17 defeat over the Titans. “Obviously, we want to be high-flying and scoring every time we’re out there on the field. But I think with the schedule that we’ve played, we’ve won all different types of ways against a lot of great football teams.”

The Chiefs will face the Jacksonville Jaguars next at home on Sunday, November 13 at 1 p.m. ET.
