Hall of Famer Warren Moon is backing the Kansas City Chiefs for victory in next month’s Super Bowl, as his former team seeks a historic title triumph.
Can Chiefs break Super Bowl record?
After beating the Buffalo Bills to the AFC Championship, the Chiefs can win a third straight Super Bowl when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL’s title game in New Orleans.
Since the beginning of the Super Bowl era in the 1966 season, no NFL team has ever won three successive championships.
“I’m going with the Chiefs...”
Speaking on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams on Wednesday, the former quarterback Moon - who played for Kansas City in 1999 and 2000 - followed his Chiefs allegiances when asked to pick a winner in Louisiana.
“You know, I played with the Chiefs, my last team in my career, and I’ve been a big fan of theirs ever since,” the 68-year-old nine-time Pro Bowler said.
“I met [Chiefs quarterback] Patrick [Mahomes] when he came out of college because he was represented by my agent, Leigh Steinberg, so I’m going with the Chiefs because I want to see history, I want to see a three-peat if possible.
“It’s going to be a heck of game, though, it’s going to be a heck of a game.”
What are the Super Bowl LIX betting odds?
The Chiefs, who beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII two years ago, are also the bookmakers’ favorites to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy at Caesars Superdome.
According to the betting comparison website Oddschecker, Andy Reid’s men have moneyline odds of between -124 and -130 for victory over Philadelphia, who are valued at +105 to +110.
NFC title winners at the expense of the Washington Commanders, the Eagles are chasing their first Super Bowl triumph since LII in 2017 - the Pennsylvanians’ only victory to date in the showpiece game.
