The San Francisco 49ers’s RB has signed a 2-year contract extension with a huge pay increase which will make him the highest-paid running back in the NFL.
Christian McCaffrey is the No. 1 ranked running back in the league. He is one of NFL’s most dynamic offensive players and a key part of the San Francisco 49ers’ multi-faceted gameplan.
He just got rewarded for his hard play and toughness on the field that has made him the NFL’s most versatile and arguably one of the best running backs.
Christian McCaffrey’s new contract
The 49ers have given their star RB a two-year extension to his contract with an average of $19 million per year. The deal gives him $8 million more than what he was originally scheduled to earn in the first years, plus $26 million in guarantees, per sources (see below).
McCaffrey had originally signed a 4-year, $64 million extension in 2020 in his third year with the Panthers, but was then traded to the 49ers in 2022 and the contract was left unchanged. In 2023 he had 21 touchdowns with the 49ers and over 2,000 yards. The Stanford University running back was drafted eighth overall in the 2017 draft. He will turn 28 on June 7, 2024 and 49ers fans are hoping he will continue to dominate in the league with his running and pass-catching ability.
